Hello, dear friends who love crafts. Today I want to show you how to make a keychain in the shape of an elf, but giving movement to its joints. A few days ago one of my cousins saw a video of some pendants that had the shape of an elf and she was delighted with them. These had been made with cold porcelain or clay, so they had a firm and very nice consistency.

I told my cousin that I could try to make a similar one, but using moldable foami, which was the material I had at home, it would not be the same, but it was something, she would have her keychain. So I started to make it, it was quite fast to do it, it was not very nice, but she was excited about it. Below, I show you all the materials I used and the step by step of the creative process.

Hola, queridos amigos amantes de las manualidades. Hoy quiero mostrarles cómo hacer un llavero con forma de duende, pero dándole movimiento a sus articulaciones. Hace unos días una de mis primas vio un video de unos colgantes que tenían la forma de duende y se quedó encantada con ellos. Estos los habían elaborado con porcelana fría o arcilla, por lo que tenían una consistencia firme y muy bonita.

Le comenté a mi prima que podía intentar hacer uno parecido, pero utilizando foami moldeable, que era el material que tenía en casa, no quedaría igual, pero algo es algo, tendría su llaverito. Así que comencé a elaborarlo, fue bastante rápido hacerlo, no quedó muy bonito, pero a ella le hacía ilusión. A continuación, te muestro todos los materiales que utilicé y el paso a paso del proceso creativo.

🔑Step by step // Paso a paso🔑

For the body I used two polyfoam balls of different sizes: the smaller one for the head and the larger one for the body. To mold the body I cut two side parts from the larger ball and shaped it with a nail file. Then I glued the head in place and lined the whole piece with skin-colored moldable foami.

Para el cuerpo utilicé dos bolas de poliespuma de distintos tamaños: la de menor tamaño para la cabeza y otra más grande para el cuerpo. Para moldear el cuerpo corté dos partes laterales de la bola más grande y le di forma con una lima de uñas. Luego pegué la cabeza en su lugar y forré toda la pieza con foami moldeable color piel.

For the leaves, which are the elf's clothes, I used a silicone mold with this shape. I made two large leaves to place on the front and back of the body and two smaller ones to hang on the keychain.

Para las hojas que viene siendo la ropa del duende, utilicé un molde de silicona con esta forma. Hice dos hojas grandes para colocarlos en la parte delantera y trasera del cuerpo y dos más pequeñas para luego colgarlos en el llavero.

With black moldable foami I made the hair, I only covered the head with small flattened portions and with the cutter I made lines to simulate the texture of the hair.

Con foami moldeable de color negro hice el pelo, solo fui cubriendo la cabeza con pequeñas porciones aplanadas y con el cúter le hice líneas que simularan la textura del cabello.

For the sunflower in the hair I also used a silicone mold that has several types of flowers. When it was dry, I glued it on top of the hair.

Para el girasol del cabello también utilicé un molde de silicona que cuenta con varios tipos de flores. Cuando estaba seco, lo pegué encima del cabello.

To join the joints and make the legs and arms move, I used wire and cutting pliers. I made pieces of wire about 4 or 5 cm long and bent one of the ends. These I inserted where I would place the legs, arms and one in the center of the sunflower. I took 4 pieces of wire and covered them with skin colored moldable foami, these being the legs and arms. Then I attached them to the pieces embedded in the body.

Para la unión de las articulaciones y que tuvieran movimiento, las piernas y brazos, utilicé alambre y una pinza de corte. Hice piezas de alambre de aproximadamente 4 o 5 cm y les doblé uno de los extremos. Estos los introduje donde situaría las piernas, los brazos y uno en el centro del girasol. Tomé 4 piezas de alambre y las cubrí con foami moldeable color piel, siendo estas las piernas y brazos. Luego las uní a las piezas incrustadas al cuerpo.

With a black marker I drew the face, it didn't look very good, I must get better at this 😄.

Con un marcador negro dibujé la cara, no quedó muy bien, que digamos, debo mejorar en esto 😄.

Finally, I took a keychain hardware and, on the chain part, attached the two leaves I had made earlier. I then attached it to the wire piece in the center of the sunflower.

Por último, tomé un herraje para llavero y, en la parte de la cadena, coloqué las dos hojas que había hecho con anterioridad. Luego lo uní a la pieza de alambre del centro del girasol.

And this is how this keychain in the shape of an elf or nature fairy is finished. The coolest thing is the mobility of its parts, it de-stresses if you play with it for a while.
