Painting of a saint with birds flying | Pintura de santo com pássaros voando [EN/PT]
When I decided to name the Challenge: Drawing (almost) every day on iPad, including the "almost", it was because I was almost certain I would rest on Sundays, leaving the task of drawing for other days of the week.
This tradition of a weekly break is apparently religious; it's even in the Christian Bible, the rest on the seventh day of the creation of the world. I know that for other religions the day of rest may be Friday or Saturday.
Today, Sunday, I decided to break the custom by using a religious memory from childhood, drawing from memory a painting that I thought was enormous inside the church in the neighborhood where I lived as a child. As far as I remember, it was a priest studying a book in a room with large windows and birds flying over the top of the painting.
After creating this artwork, I wanted to compare it to the original, but I couldn't find it; after all, it was a painting from almost 60 years ago. I even found the church's website - Paróquia São Camilo de Lellis - in the Camilópolis neighborhood in Santo André/SP. I found other representations of the saint and realized that the black cassock with a red cross on the chest has nothing to do with the brown Franciscan habit that I drew.
I even doubted whether what I saw was actually in the church (my family went occasionally, and I, unlike my sisters, didn't even make my first communion), but I remember the birds more clearly. Since sometimes real birds would enter the church and fly across the ceiling, in my child's mind I thought they were the same ones from the painting.

Quando decidir nomear o Desafio: Desenhando (quase) todo dia no iPad incluido o "quase" foi porque tinha quase certeza que iria descansar aos domingos, deixando a tarefa de desenhar para outros dias da semana.
Esta tradição da pausa semanal aparentemente é religioso, está até na biblia cristã o descanso no sétimo dia da criação do mundo. Sei que para outras religiões o dia do descanso pode ser sexta ou sábado.
Hoje, domingo, resolvi quebrar o costume usando uma lembrança religiosa de infância, desenhando de memória um quadro que achava enorme dentro da igreja do bairro em que morava quando criança. Pelo que me lembro era um padre estudando um livro em uma sala com janelas amplas e pássaros sobrevoando a parte de cima quadro.
Depois de ter feito esta arte quis comparar com o original mas não encontrei, afinal era uma pintura de quase 60 anos atrás. Achei até o site da igreja - Paróquia São Camilo de Lellis - no bairro de Camilópolis em Santo André/SP. Encontrei outras representações do santo e percebi que a batina preta com uma cruz vermelha no peito não tem nada a ver com a roupa marrom de franciscano que desenhei.
Até fiquei em dúvida se o que vi era na igreja mesmo (minha família ia de vez em quando e eu, diferente de minhas irmãs, eu nem fiz a primeira comunhão) mas lembro mais claramente os pássaros. Como as vezes alguns pássaros de verdade entravam na igreja e cruzavam o teto, na minha mente de criança achava que eram os mesmos da pintura.
