Most expensive product at the Vienna airport. A 40 y/o Japanese Hibiki Suntory whisky for 47K Euro. Psychology of airport retailers.
Was sagt ihr dazu?
Most expensive product at the Vienna International Airport
40 y/o Japanese Hibiki Suntory Whisky for 46 999 Euros.
English
This is the most expensive product I discovered at the Vienna International Airport. The price blew me away a little. 47 thousand euros for a 40-year-old Japanese Hibiki Suntory whisky. Steep.
Other luxury whiskies are also available at the airport for a few thousand euros.
The psychology behind this is to generate a feeling of luxury and, at the same time, offer “normal” high-quality 10-year-old whisky for 100-200 euros per bottle.
Compared to the expensive luxury products costing tens of thousands of euros, the other prices suddenly don't seem so expensive anymore. In consumer psychology, this is called the anchoring effect.
What do you think? What is the most expensive product you have discovered at the airport? Do you think an old whisky like this would be a good investment, similar to an expensive work of art?

I'm shocked how a bottle of whisky can cost more than a car. Definitely feels like they use stuff like this to make everything else seem more reasonable by comparison. Marketing psychology 101
I haven't heard of the anchoring effect before, but it makes total sense.
I'm pretty sure that the main purpose of having this bottle is not to actually sell it, because my (and from previous comments I assume many other people's) first reaction to seeing the price was to take my phone and check how much it is to buy it online.
Since it is at least 7k Euro cheaper online, I wonder if anyone would be willing to pay the 47k Euro for the bottle.
That's a good trick, in fact it doesn't look too much expensive considering the aging, but the quality I dont know, I'm not whiskey expert

There are also expensive wines. I remember one person bought 6 bottles of wine in a store for $300k.
Such an amount? I don't think the wine is for drinking. The buyer should let people know the purpose of buying the wine at such a high price.
Schnäppchen nir wären schon 20 Euro zu viel !LOL
trinke ich lieber Havana.
Muüsste mal überlegen was ich in Singapur gesehen habe, da war sicherlich auch was teures bei.

Oh wow, maybe how old the whisky is the main contributor for its hefty price. In terms of investment, I think so it's a good one, provided it could be sold for a much higher price in the future :)

Luxury products are always expensive, and I think either art or alcohol is the most expensive products there. I don't think its a good investment though.
