Harrods – Largest department store in UK / Europe (Photo gallery)
Harrods ist mit 100,000 m^2 Verkaufsfläche das größte Einkaufszentrum in UK und sogar in Europa, das vor allem Luxusprodukte verkauft und erinnert mich im Zeitalter von Amazon & Co. eher an ein Museum, an historische Zeiten, in denen Einkaufszentren noch florierten. Innen durfte man leider keine Fotos machen. Erstaunlich, dass so ein großes Luxus-Einkaufszentrum immer noch rentabel ist. Wie ist das möglich?

With 1,100,000 square feet (100,000 m^2) of retail space, Harrods is the largest shopping center in the UK and even in Europe, specializing primarily in luxury goods. In the age of Amazon and the like, it reminds me more of a museum, of a bygone era when shopping centers were still thriving. Unfortunately, photography wasn’t allowed inside. It’s amazing that such a large luxury shopping center is still profitable. How is this possible?

Tja, ich glaube es ist die Marke, es ist etwas was man gesehen haben muss, etwas mitgenommen haben muss um darüber berichten zu können, das man einfach eine Tüte von Harrods sein eigen nennen kann.
Soooo lange her ich weiß gar nicht mehrbob ich drin war als wir Klassenfahrt dort hin gemacht haben. Ich glaube ich hatte es nicht geschafft, anderes war mir wichtiger. Aber andere waren da drin.
Und vermutlich ist es dann so, das 1% der Verkauften Artikel dann 99% des Umsatzes ausmachen. Der kleinkram lohnt nicht, aber ist ein muss.
So meine Vermutung.
Denke die meisten laufen nur durch um zu schauen, aber vermutlich kaufen dann doch genug noch irgendein kleines Souvenir, aber die Fixkosten müssen auch gigantisch sein bei der Größe und dem Personal.
Richtig, aber musst schon bedenken Harrods hat viele Millionäre als Kunden, die da beim Besuch Hunderttausende da lassen und die Marge ist bei den Produkten enorm.
Gibt viele Unternehmen, die mit einem großteil der Produkte kaum was verdienen und mit anderen umso mehr.
Z.b. Restaurants verdienen in der Regel mit dem Essen wenig, die Hige Margen sind beim Trinken, vorallem Kaffe ist eine riesen Marge.

They must be doing something right to last this long, practically every Department store chain in Canada including the 500 year old Hudson's BAy Company went under or totally scaled back to a few store location only in the largest cities.
Same here in Europe, I think department stores have a hard time now, competing with e-commerce, stagflation and permanent crisis.
I think the reputation of Harrods still makes it the shopping destination of the people
The size is really impressive
There are still many people who like to stroll around and touch the things they are going to buy.
In my opinion there is a huge difference between shopping inside the store compared shopping online
