Happy bday USA 250: "Best fireworks show, EVER!"

Happy Bday für alle, die das 250-jährige Jubiläum der USA am 4. Juli gefeiert haben. Laut Trump war es das größte Feuerwerk ever. Mir hat das Feuerwerk von Las Vegas aber besser gefallen als das in DC.

250 Jahre sind schon ein Vierteljahrtausend, aber verglichen mit europäischen Staaten ist die USA relativ jung. Spanien ist ungefähr 500 Jahre alt, Österreich 1000 Jahre (seit der ersten Nennung) und Bulgarien sogar über 1300 Jahre.

Als Staatenbund kann die USA aber auf eine lange Geschichte und viel Erfahrung zurückblicken, die EU (Maastricht-Vertrag) wurde im Vergleich erst vor 33 Jahren gegründet, der Euro erst vor 26 Jahren eingeführt, und selbst das Projekt einer gemeinsamen Währung ist noch nicht einmal abgeschlossen, da es noch EU-Länder ohne Euro gibt.

Bin gespannt, welcher Staatenbund länger durchhält, die USA oder die EU? Was meint ihr? Happy USA 250!

Happy anniversary to everyone who celebrated the 250th bday of the U.S. on July 4th. According to Trump, it was the biggest fireworks display ever. But I liked the fireworks in Las Vegas better than the ones in DC.

250 years is already a quarter of a millennium, but compared to European countries, the U.S. is relatively young. Spain is about 500 years old, Austria 1,000 (since its first mention), and Bulgaria even older with over 1,300 years of history.

As a confederation of states, however, the U.S. can look back on a long history and a wealth of experience, by comparison, the EU (Maastricht treaty) was founded only 33 years ago, and it’s been just 26 years since the introduction of the euro, and even that process isn’t complete yet, since there are still countries that don’t use the euro.

I’m curious to see which confederation will last longer, the U.S. or the EU? What do you think? Happy 250th, USA!

while the us has had 250 years to forge a unified national identity, the eu is still very much an 'experiment in progress,' trying to balance sovereignty with integration

i’d bet on both surviving for a long time, but their 'survival stories' will look very different

I think the US will last longer since it was created earlier. The California fires caused somee of the firework shows in the state to be called off, but the firework shows online were quite nice.
