Anthropic hat versehentlich in einem Debug-File den Source-Code von ihrem Claude Code Tool veröffentlicht, 512K Lines of Code. Stunden später wurde der Source-Code etliche Male auf github geforked und von einem koreanischen Power-User in Python und Rust mit OpenAI Codex und einem agenten-basierten AI-Tool übersetzt. Was für eine Ironie.

Am nächsten Morgen hat dann Anthropic den Leak entdeckt und mit Copyright-Claims alle direkten 1:1 Forks von github entfernen lassen.

Die Python und Rust-Übersetzungen sind aber noch online, hier ist die rechtliche Lage vermutlich komplizierter. Könnte aber sein, dass diese auch bald gelöscht werden.

Andererseits ist es schwer den Leak vollständig rückgängig zu machen, da der Code bereits auf dezentralen Plattformen wie Gitlawb geleaked wurde.

Was sagt ihr dazu? Denkt ihr, sind die Python und Rust-Übersetzungen DCMA-safe oder werden diese auch noch heruntergenommen werden? Wie groß schätzt ihr den Schaden für Anthropic?

Anthropic accidentally published the source code for its Claude Code Tool—512,000 lines of code—in a debug file. Hours later, the source code had been forked numerous times on GitHub and translated into Python and Rust by a Korean power user, using OpenAI Codex and an agent-based AI tool. What an irony.

The next morning, Anthropic discovered the leak and had all direct 1:1 forks removed from GitHub via copyright claims.

However, the Python and Rust translations are still online, the legal situation here is likely more complicated. But it’s possible that these will also be deleted soon.

On the other hand, it’s difficult to completely undo the leak, since the code has already been leaked on decentralized platforms like Gitlawb.
