The soul
I don't want much from life
just this much,
that in this heterogeneous, forgetful crowd
there may be a face whose gaze
recognizes me even when I'm unfamiliar with myself
Someone
who can feel my pain, prayer, and silence
without waiting for words,
who can complete incomplete expressions
with their mere presence,
without insistence, without a reply
Sometimes,
someone who can touch the emptiness that lies behind laughter,
so that silence
doesn't need explanation
not just sympathy,
but through co-experience,
that pain is eased in a shared silence.
Pain is universal
but peace is attained only by those
who find someone
who doesn't solve the pain,
but only has the ability to carry it along
I don't crave anyone's words
only that determined, wordless closeness
who can keep alive the feeling of "I am with you" without saying a word
Because this world is filled with arguments and explanations
but to find a heart to which it is possible to express everything without words
that is the definition of an enlightened relationship, a friend, a father,
an elder, a guru or
anyone who accepts the heart
who connects not with words
with the soul
