Peace
I often find peace in that quiet moment of morning, when the first sunlight
falls silently into the courtyard
as if saying, “Stay energetic, don’t tire.”
Sometimes I find peace
in a drop of dew on a leaf,
which, before falling,
wants to encompass the entire sky in its transparency
Sometimes I find peace
hidden in the womb of a forest
as an invisible footprint,
which suddenly opens a silent path in the tangled recesses of my inner self,
when I begin to wander within my own fear.
I avoid wrongdoing
lest this stream of love,
which has flowed pure and peacefully for generations,
becomes muddy in my hands.
Peace isn't always present,
but lets countless streams of affection flow through my life.
Sometimes these streams shine as faith in the eyes of a stranger,
sometimes in the silent waves of an old friend,
sometimes in the touch of a blessing in the hands of an elder
I fear that some mistake of mine might force these streams of affection to dry up.
I fear that those whose silent prayers include my name, may stop rising for me.
