Ever since I have gained consciousness of existence,
I have moulded myself in this grey wilderness
with the determination to live!
Years ago in the tired womb
I had taken shape
My body was untied from the umbilical cord,
It is said that there were only a few tears in my mother's drooping eyes
And a deepening emptiness in my father's half-burnt gaze,
Only a slight hope remained in the practice of the midwife
That she would survive her risk
And the utensils clanging in panic

On the choking cry of the delivery
Kept ringing for a long time
In the silent sky of the village!
Days were like days
And nights were like nights
What is life
It passes its way
Whatever came my way I took it
Who knows where I made a mistake
Whatever wrong behaviour I faced
I endured it unwillingly,
However shabby my home was
I kept it simple
I always remained indifferent to the discussions of the village and the street
I did not take the curses of my existence to heart
In every situation, falling and getting up
I controlled my temper!
In the village and the road
There was no bargaining anywhere
There was no strength of my own anywhere
The middle brother
Years ago
Left for a foreign land
And could not return
Safely to the country. I am left with this condition
