No estaba leyendo.
No duran mucho.
A veces apenas unos segundos.

Hello @holos-lotus community, with this post I continue the series. I don't always have something important to say.
Most days pass without memorable scenes, without sentences worth underlining, and without clear conclusions. Even so, something remains. Not as a lesson or a revelation, but as a thin layer over everyday life.
That is where the idea for this series comes from: Between what happens and what I don't say.
It is not an attempt to explain myself or find meaning in everything. It is a way of observing what usually stays outside the conversation: small gestures, everyday habits, moments that are never announced but are still there.
I write from everyday life, from what can be observed. It does not need to be profound to be real. I am not trying to close ideas or leave messages behind. I simply record things, like someone noting the weather without judging it.
So there will be no answers and no promises.
Only small scenes, ordinary days, and a voice that observes.

When the Refrigerator Goes Quiet

There are silences that do not arrive because something appears, but because something stops being there.
A few days ago, I was at home doing nothing in particular.
I was not reading.
I was not watching a movie.
I was not focused on any important task.
I was simply there, spending an ordinary afternoon, the kind that leaves almost no trace behind.
Then something happened that happens every day.
The refrigerator turned off.
Or rather, it stopped being heard.
I do not remember paying attention to the sound it had been making moments before.
In fact, I am quite sure I was not consciously listening to it.
And yet, the instant the motor stopped, I noticed.
The house changed.
Not because a great silence had suddenly arrived.
But because a sound that had become part of the scenery disappeared.
For a few seconds everything seemed suspended.
As if someone had lowered the volume of a room that had been humming for hours.
And I realized something curious.
I had been hearing that sound the entire time.
I had simply stopped noticing it.
I suppose the same thing happens with many things.
We become so accustomed to certain presences that they stop attracting our attention.
They remain there.
They continue occupying space.
But we no longer register them consciously.
The refrigerator.
The fan.
The distant traffic.
A television playing in another room.
Little by little they blend into the background until they become an invisible layer covering the day.
And perhaps this does not happen only with sounds.
Thinking about it, it also happens with many of the things we carry inside our minds.
Small worries.
Pending tasks.
Conversations we continue replaying.
Decisions we still have not made.
They are not at the center of our attention.
But they have not disappeared either.
They remain there.
Like the steady hum of an appliance.
Sometimes we think we are resting because we are not actively thinking about certain matters.
But perhaps we have simply become accustomed to their presence.
Then something changes.
A problem gets solved.
A worry disappears.
A task is finally completed.
And suddenly we feel something difficult to explain.
A lightness.
A new space.
A silence.
Not because something extraordinary arrived.
But because something stopped making noise.
Maybe that is why that moment in the kitchen caught my attention.
It lasted only a few seconds and yet it made me think about how many things work exactly the same way.
There are noises we hear.
And there are noises we simply accept.
The second kind is the hardest to notice.
Because it eventually becomes part of the decoration of our lives.
They are there when we wake up.
They accompany us through the day.
And they remain when we go to bed.
Until they disappear.
And then we understand how much space they occupied.
The refrigerator started again a little later.
The house returned to its familiar soundtrack.
Everything continued exactly as before.
Or almost.
Because from that moment on, I began paying more attention to those small silences that appear from time to time.
They never last very long.
Sometimes only a few seconds.
But they have something interesting.
They remind me that we do not always notice what we are carrying.
And that some forms of exhaustion do not come from big things.
They come from the accumulation of small noises that we eventually consider normal.
Perhaps peace is not about living in complete silence.
That seems impossible.
Maybe it is about recognizing which things have been making noise inside us for too long.
And which ones it may finally be time to turn off.
Sometimes we do not realize how much space something occupied until the exact moment it stops making noise.
With this, the twenty-sixth chapter comes to an end and I say goodbye. Tell me in the comments what you thought, and if you would like to support it, it will be greatly appreciated.
