Cuando alguien recuerda algo que dije al pasar

Hola comunidad @ladiesofhive nuevamente con ustedes con el decimoctavo capítulo de las Cosas pequeñas que me Sostienen.

A veces uno dice algo al pasar… sin imaginar que alguien realmente lo escucha.

Recuerdo una conversación entre varios amigos y compañeros de estudio. Éramos muchos, hablando de temas distintos, saltando de una cosa a otra como suele pasar en esos grupos grandes.

En algún momento, alguien mencionó libros de Gabriel García Márquez y la conversación terminó girando alrededor de Cien años de soledad.

Yo comenté, un poco apenada, que nunca había podido leerlo.

No porque no quisiera.

Sino porque lo había buscado varias veces y nunca logré encontrarlo.

Lo dije casi sin pensar.

La conversación siguió su curso y aquello quedó atrás. De hecho, estoy segura de que para la mayoría pasó completamente desapercibido.

Incluso para mí.

Por eso me sorprendió tanto lo que ocurrió días después.

Coincidimos en un evento en la universidad y uno de aquellos amigos se acercó directamente hacia mí con un libro en la mano.

Era Cien años de soledad.

Sonrió y me dijo algo que todavía recuerdo:

“Alguien que quiere leer este libro no puede quedarse sin hacerlo solo por no encontrarlo. Toma, es tuyo”.

Y me lo regaló.

Recuerdo quedarme sin saber qué decir.

No por el libro solamente.

Sino porque me impresionó que alguien hubiera recordado aquel comentario tan pequeño, dicho casi de casualidad entre tantas voces y tantas conversaciones.

Fue uno de esos momentos que parecen simples… pero se quedan.

Porque a veces no es el regalo en sí lo que emociona.

Es sentir que alguien realmente prestó atención.

Y en un mundo donde tantas cosas se dicen rápido y se olvidan igual de rápido, eso tiene un valor enorme.

Desde entonces, cada vez que pienso en ese momento, recuerdo que hay personas capaces de escuchar incluso lo que uno cree que nadie notó.

Y eso, aunque parezca pequeño…

también me sostiene.

Hello @ladiesofhive community, once again with you with the eighteenth chapter of Small Things That Sustain Me.

Sometimes we say something casually… without imagining that someone is truly listening.

I remember a conversation among several friends and classmates. There were many of us, talking about different things, jumping from one topic to another like large groups often do.

At some point, someone mentioned books by Gabriel García Márquez, and the conversation eventually turned to One Hundred Years of Solitude.

I commented, a little shyly, that I had never been able to read it.

Not because I didn’t want to.

But because I had looked for it several times and never managed to find it.

I said it almost without thinking.

The conversation moved on and that moment was left behind. In fact, I’m sure it went completely unnoticed for most people.

Even for me.

That’s why what happened a few days later surprised me so much.

We met again at a university event, and one of those friends walked directly toward me carrying a book in his hand.

It was One Hundred Years of Solitude.

He smiled and said something I still remember:

“Someone who wants to read this book shouldn’t miss the chance just because they couldn’t find it. Here, it’s yours.”

And he gave it to me.

I remember not knowing what to say.

Not only because of the book itself.

But because it amazed me that someone had remembered such a small comment, said almost casually among so many voices and conversations.

It was one of those moments that seem simple… but stay with you.

Because sometimes it’s not the gift itself that moves you.

It’s realizing that someone truly paid attention.

And in a world where so many things are said quickly and forgotten just as quickly, that means a lot.

Since then, every time I think about that moment, I remember that there are people capable of listening even to the things we think no one noticed.

And that, even if it seems small…

also sustains me.
