Social Media Challenge - Leech, Scavenge and Heal For The Win Against Poison Burst

Good day to all, we are on the eve of year 2026. Hope you've completed all the goals you've set for yourselves in 2025 and getting ready to embrace 2026. Time real passed so fast and a year is over. So many battles and so many memories in 2025, it had been an eventful year in Splinterlands. And for today's sharing, I will be sharing on an interesting match that I had recently against Sheng Xiao and its poison burst battle tactics.

Poison Burst

The above icon is poison burst. One of the most headache ability to go against. You can be on your journey to victory and all of a sudden, a bomb of poison detonates and it becomes a big headache to deal with.

And the full definition of the ability is as follows:
When defeated, 100% chance to apply Poisoned to attacker and 50% chance to apply Poisoned to units adjacent to attacker. Poisoned units lose 2 health at the beginning of each round.

Imagine a card that kills the card that kills the card with Poison Burst on it has 2 adjacent cards to it, it will mean a very high chance of 3 cards getting poisoned. And whatever momentum or advantage you've built up suddenly swing against you. So let's see today how I endured the poison that was on my cards with Life Leech, Scavenge and Corrupted Healing.

Selection Analysis
In today's matchup, there were only 2 choice available to us for this match, namely death and dragon. For me, I prefer to use death as my archon level for death is higher. And my opponent picked Dragon.

To lead the lineup, I call upon Thalgrimore, whom is a foundation death splinter archon that give a -1 health to all of opponent's lineup. Mana wise it is not like we have a tonne of mana to just field bigger cards, so we had to ration a little. In the tank role, I assigned Halfling Refugee which is just 1 mana but gives a tonne of value just that it might get hit with exhaustion. The next card in the lineup is Dark Arborist that comes with Demoralize and Magic Reflect. This will help in returning some magic attack favours to opponent while weakening th melee attack. Next in the lineup is Silverleaf Warlock to give swiftness to enable the team to strike earlier. Following which are the 2 stars of the match today which will be further elaborated later on, Little Sister with Life Leech and Flying and Arachne Weaver with Corrupted Healing and Scavenge. Last but not least, it will be Helheim Demon to attempt to combo with Arachne Weaver whom has healing as it taunts all the attacks.

Opponent used Sheng Xiao as archon which is a battle tactics legendary dragon archon whom is able to choose battle tactics after the lineup is settled. For the tank, opponent used Nim Guard Captain which is from foundation set because it has void and have a relatively decent stats. Next is a very difficult to face card, Kei, which can reach and enfeeble, weakening our melee attack. Opponent also had a Dark Arborist but unfortunately of a lower level and does not have magic reflect. Opponent also had a similar setup of Life Leech and Corrupted Healing using Shadowfey Sheik and Arachne Weaver. And last on the lineup is Dragon Egg Forager which has opportunity.

Seeing similar lineup but opponent has a poison bomb for me. Time to go into the match and diffuse the bomb.

Round by Round Synopsis

Round 1 - Nim Guard Captain and Kei gotten the poison burst so I will have 2 poison bombs to deal with. There were no casualties because we do have corrupted healing. Though my Helheim Demon is a little weaked after taking everyone's attack.

Round 2 - First bomb exploded, with Arachne Weaver killing Nim Guard Captain and the worse possible outcome happened with Arachne Weaver and its two neighbours all got poisoned. And at the end they manage to really push Helheim Demon to a very low health which will get it killed by poison next turn.

Round 3 - And yes, poison struck and Helheim Demon cannot hold on to it. Little Sister killed of Kei and thankfully it did not spread onto Silverleaf Warlock. And we survived another round with consistent healing.

Round 4,This round the only action is on Dark Arborist whom fell. My cards still holding on strong.

Round 5, The cards came alive and start smashing my opponents card as we push and cleared until we had only 1 card standing on opponent lineup.

Round 6, Final one to go, Dragon Egg Forager get smashed and we won the match!

Battle Summary
While it was a shocker for me to face Sheng Xiao and having that 2 poison bombs prepared for me. It is certainly tough to go against it because it is crazy to be fending against 2 damage every turn but somehow, when we have manage to turn this around with 3 abilities to sustain the backline in such a strong manner and that even when poisoned, the cards self regenerated themselves in a cycle of life leech to grab health, scavenge to grab health and corrupted healing to heal off any damage. And it is because of life leech and scavenge, the impact of corrupted healing did not make it worse but help me to get what I need to get for the win.
