Community Engagement Challenge: Moments That Made You A Better Player

Hi all, good day to all of you. It's time again for Community Engagement Challenge. Today's topic is on Moments That Made You A Better Player. I think this is really a very interesting topic to be sharing at the start of a new year. So let's begin today's sharing.

The Crazy Journey Begins

In late 2021, I've join Splinterlands not knowing what to do or how to play. All I had was just a tutorial that every new player will go through and that's how it went through. And in the past, if we do not have collection power above a certain figure, we are effectively playing for fun because we will not earn DEC rewards. Not knowing how play2earn game work and not having any assets other than starter cards, I am effectively stuck. No rewards, how to stay in the game. So next I will share with you how things progressed to jump start my journey.

Search For A Community
As play2earn was relatively very foreign thing to me, I had to do some research and got help from Mr Google. Then I chanced upon a post about Splinterlands discord for Singapore players. And that is where I met some of my long time buddies whom are still in the game till now when some have moved on to other things in life.

There are fellow Singaporeans that had been instrumental in guiding me in the early phase to where I am today in terms of my growth in the game and we have all settled down into a same guild.

Having this community is important because communication is the first thing to help make us better. Struggling alone will not move us far, but when you have a community of players with you, everything becomes a breeze. And a big shout out to ex discord leader in metafrens, whom also help me kickstart my journey by delegating cards to me to allow me to gain rewards and jump start my Splinterlands journey. This is ever so important because that is how that little jump start allowed the accumulation of DEC and subsequently SPS. Not only that, if there are cards that my fellow friends have in extra, they will be most willing to delegate to me to help me overcome the battles I need for the day to get the daily chest and also the season end chest back then.

From those accumulated DEC/SPS, those were valuable to help me further fund what I need in subsequent purchases or even solidify my reward basis to earn reward cards and now Glint.

Search For A Guild

Having a community to jumpstart and people to discuss strategy is great. And the next thing to do is to find a guild, so that one will be able to get more staked SPS which will further boost up your rewards. Just by consistently taking part in brawls, we can get about 5-10 staked SPS is that. And as well accumulated and stake, we can also earn liquid SPS from the staked SPS.

With all these SPS, glint etc, we will be able to either buy or rent cards, open card packs using glint etc. And these are key items that help us to grow our collection.

Brawling consistently will help build up all those tokenomics and allow you to get what you need to get.

Cards

No matter how good you are, you will need to get a decent collection to win battles. Without a decent collection, you will struggle because you will lack the cards to deploy for the matches and lose out to your opponents.

Do also note, reward cards alone might be decent, but to have some cutting edge, you will definitely need some cards from the main set so as to set yourself apart from the rest.

And to really grow, select carefully what you want to upgrade and ensure your upgrade is worthwhile then you will really start winning games which is what I have learnt from this journey.

Every Battle A Lesson

Lost a battle? Learn from it. These lost battles are valuable lessons for us to relook on ur selection and understand what allowed our opponent to edge past us.

Is it difference in card levels?
Is it our sequence was wrong?
Is there a better card that can go into our lineup?

So many different questions we can ask ourselves as we look through these lost battle and seek what can be done to overcome opponent. Do not let these battles go to waste, review them, see what we did poorer and from those weak points, seek improvement, refine our collection and outdo them in future!
