Adapting to Modern: Learning Integrating Foundation Cards Into Your Battles Part 11

Prelude
Greeting to all, how are you this midweek, hope you are doing really fine and welcome back to another new post on Adapting to Modern. With the launch of the foundation card set, it is evident that these cards will somehow become part of the available cards that we can play during normal ranked battle and truly I use them in my ranked battles. If you follow what I share on my weekly Splinterlands posts on match sharing, there are quite a number of foundation cards that will somehow creep into those lineup which means they can also perform in ranked battles. It's been about more than a week that the foundation jackpot cards have been released, but until now, they are still rather elusive and I have yet to land a copy of any card from the jackpot pool till date.

For me, these foundations cards are important because they give newcomers a decent push to strengthen and expand their collection until they have sufficient DEC/SPS or through other methods of capital injection to purchase main set packs or buy cards off the market that can truly elevate their lineup in ranked battles. In this series, I will be deep diving into various foundation cards that we can obtain from playing frontier matches and opening foundation packs.

Foundation Set Cards

For the deep dive and analysis, I will be discussing about the growth of the cards and if they are able to synergize with modern cards to aid you in your ranked battles. This time round, assessment and recommendation will be within the card's own paragraph than having a segment on their own, so take note in the structural change in the post. Let's begin today's sharing.

Wilhelmdale Deputy

Let's begin looking at the foundation card, Wilhelmdale Deputy. Interestingly, this is a common card and I missed it out during the last post. So I would like to apologize for the messed up sequence. This is actually a rather decent card that hits hard though the slight problem is that she is a little slow and have chances of missing hits. I like that she has snare which is great for helping cards to be on common ground when there is earthquake. 3 attack at higher level is awesome and aids in taking out big cards.

In terms of growth for this card, generally gains speed and health as it levels and definitely the big change comes at level 4 when this card can hit for 3 damage. Snare comes at level 2 which is quite alrite as we journey through frontier ranked battles to aid in bringing down flying cards.

In terms of rating for this card, based on a score of 5, it will get about 2.7. Not going to be a superstar card but definitely above average card because of the strong attack and also the decent health. And with it being a common, why wait to level it, whenever you can, just level it up and you will reap the rewards of this card smashing those high health cards and aid you to victory. I have use this card rather often in my battles as well.

Time Bandit

Now we look at another card from Earth splinter, Time Bandit. The one and only card with cleanse for foundation which will make this a key card for matches with poison over global warming. The lack of other options make this an important card. Not only that, there are also not many of such cards with cleanse which makes this card important. An important factor here that must be considered is that this card is a dwarf, so when you use dwarf bloodline archon or bloodline tribute ability trigger, this card will gain all the benefits for being a dwarf.

In terms of growth for this card, the key milestone is actually at max level where this card gains a 2nd magic attack. Otherwise, it is a health growth every level, with no change in speed. A very slow card but good for it to land a cleanse before poison take effect.

In terms of rating for this card, it will take a rating of 3.0 out of 5. Ok this rating is strongly skewed by the fact of this card's exclusivity skill of cleanse. And because this is such a strong utility card at first, when you have high mana match, this card will come in handy and when at max level, this will be a nice card to select to join in the magic barrage and soak up the damage in higher leagues. And this card gains void from Dwarf archon which is fantastic as well, allowing it to survive longer in matches.

Wrap Up
Though most of the foundation cards need a little more mana that cards from the main sets, when they come into the matches, they help to fill mana gaps in our collection that we are lacking or when there is just this odd mana or two that you cannot field anything. Be sure to make full use of them, synergize them with your other cards from the main sets or reward cards, make them viable and win matches so as to earn more glint as we continue building up our collection. Do also take note of the bloodline to see how you are able to get them some boost from their fellow bloodline cards as well. Hopefully this series of post will help new players learn more about these foundation cards and improve their gameplay in ranked battles as they grow and affirm the footing on Splinterlands.

Let's continue to grow and find path in modern ranked battles as we journey on playing Splinterlands.

I agree, most Foundations cards have lower mana but do fill gaps in Modern. They all have their uses when the time is right!

Interesting post, deputy like the name suggest should provide support and leadership in fights and not fast enough to be outright leader.
