Adapting to Modern: Getting to Know Your Rebellion Core Set Part 37

Prelude
Greeting to all, it is coming to mid week and welcome back to another new post on Adapting to Modern where I look at how I crossed over from playing in Wild Battles till today focusing and getting more cards on Modern Battles, sharing with the community the struggles, the strategies and things I do to move towards playing in Modern. I have already shared quite a substantial amount, hope the brief introduction and assessment have help you with your selection and decision whether or not to invest into cards and improve your collection. There are 3 non summoner cards remaining in Rebellion that I have yet to review. But I had a long day at work today, so instead of 2 cards that I review each post, I will only doing one for today. My apologies in advance.

Rebellion Core Set Cards

Similar to the previous post for this series, we will begin discussing card from the Rebellion Core Set. Using a similar method when I reviewed the Soul Bound reward cards, I will be discussing about the growth of the cards and will give a simple review to whether or not investing into them will level up your game play or not. And let's continue our review and look at 1 dragon splinter legendary card.

Solace Ashinach

The card that we will be looking today will be legendary dragon splinter card, Solace Ashinach. First glance, I was a little surprised by what I saw. This is a 4 mana 1 melee attack card that did not have any sneak or opportunity but just return fire at level 1. To be honest, at level 1, I would rather use Halfling Refugee which is of cheaper mana and hits harder. Utility wise, it is really going to be a pain to use. And I would say, only when it has Deflect, the chances of people playing this card will then increase. Even at 4 mana which is great for little league, the stats just doesn't justify me to use this card. This card will essentially be the nemesis to range or magic attacker. But to use this to the fullest, many stars needs to be in full alignment then we have a good test case for this card to be played. For me, it really is underwhelming considering that there are so many other choices of stronger statline, abilities etc that can replace this card. The card as it grows will also get magic reflect, deflect and redemption but even with these abilities added, for a legendary card, this is quite underwhelming.

Assessment
1 card reviewed today from dragon splinter. Not a very good card per say, abilities and stats don't really justify it being a legendary card.

Rating wise, Solace Ashniach would be getting a rating of 2.0/5 from me. Much more is expected from a legendary card. Abilities and stat wise will not make me want to pick it at first choice. There are better options to be placed at position 1 with such an underwhelming card. Even at full blown, this is a card that I will not consider to pick unless I have certain needs to counter range cards or counter magic attackers.

My recommendation will be avoid getting Solace Ashinach as I think that funds used to invest in this card can be better channeled elsewhere. Otherwise, if you already own a copy, then you might want to push this to at least level 3 for the deflect to make it more viable in gameplay.

Wrap Up
Rebellion contain amazing cards that are available within it and with Conclave Arcana establishing its foothold in the meta, synergies built amongst them will yield loads of advantage in the battlefield. Using the right cards at correct positions and ruleset will greatly elevate your gameplay. Not forgetting that we will be seeing the new Conclave Arcana reward cards which might bring new synergies with the core Rebellion set.

Let's continue to grow and find path in modern as we journey on playing Splinterlands.

Yeah I agree, that shouldn't be a legendary card, it can be ok at max level for little league for the high health that's just it
