Adapting to Modern: Getting to Know Your Rebellion Core Set Part 33
Prelude
Greeting to all, a brand new week had just started and welcome back to another new post on Adapting to Modern where I look at how I crossed over from playing in Wild Battles till today focusing and getting more cards on Modern Battles, sharing with the community the struggles, the strategies and things I do to move towards playing in Modern. Sharing is learning and I myself have learned more about the cards as I shared my views with the community and also gather some feedback from you guys on your own experience with the cards.
Rebellion Core Set Cards
Similar to the previous post for this series, we will begin discussing card from the Rebellion Core Set. Using a similar method when I reviewed the Soul Bound reward cards, I will be discussing about the growth of the cards and will give a simple review to whether or not investing into them will level up your game play or not. And let's continue our review and look at 1 rare and 1 epic card from neutral splinter in today's review.
Drybone Bowdog
The first neutral splinter rare card that we will reviewing today will be Drybone Bowdog. A 4 mana card means it is suitable for little league. I like it that it has ambush means allowing it to attack before others. The only thing that I personally think that is not very desirable is the scattershot that brings less certainty to where the damage will be going towards. Sometimes if it lands on a weakened card, it could do a fatal blow to it. This card is very squishy especially with just 1 health at level 1 and a maximum of 5 health at max level. And it does not come with any armour. Personally I would say it will be a little more usable and having more survivability at least level 4 or higher. Otherwise, this can be an easy target for opportunity or snipe cards. Not the most desirable, more of if needed can be used but will be not be a direct choice.
Pallus
Next card we will look at will be Pallus. This is one card that I hate to face on the battlefield because this card always hide behind some tank and then strike me a good 3 melee damage and even when it comes to the frontline, it is so hard to land a damage on it due to its flying ability. It is actually a very simple card to use, an off tank and more importantly, it can also gain lookout which is really good to safeguard magic or range cards that are placed behind it to reduce the damage dealt to them via opportunity or snipe. Simple, effective and deadly I would say. A very good addition to any collection and will give you loads of value and win you many battles. I have fallen many times to this card and know how good it is. Upon gaining look out, this card is crazy and already have a much improved stat line as it levelled up. There is another ability that this card have that needs to pair with another card with opposite pair of kindred to give both of them synergy with stronger abilities.
Assessment
1 rare and 1 epic card that are being reviewed today of which Drybone Bowdog probably can be a card that we can consider skipping because it is really a little weak when we have it levelled up significantly while Pallus is such a great card that even at level 1 already rock the battle field that one must really add one copy to their collection.
Rating wise, Drybone Bowdog would be getting a rating of 2.2/5 from me. It is a rare card and not showing the capability of a rare card and also carries big uncertainty due to scattershot and stats wise is below par, squishy unless getting some boost from some archon that can get the best of out it. Pallus on the other hand, deserves at least a 4.4/5 with the only possible thing that is not so good being the high mana and will need to sacrifice a number of cards to field it should it be a medium mana match of 20-ish to 30-ish. Otherwise, this card is awesome and easy to use.
My recommendation will be to forget about Drybone Bowdog unless you are severely lacking in cards that can compete in Little League or need more range attacker but do at least get this card to minimally level 5 for 4 health. For Pallus, it will be great to get it at level 3, or even level 4 for the 4th damage, with the lookout ability to help reduce damage taken by its neighbours from sneak, snipe and opportunity. Pallus will not be cheap so save up a little and get it into your collection if you haven't.
Wrap Up
Rebellion do really have good cards that are available within itand with Conclave Arcana establishing its foothold in the meta, synergies built amongst them will yield loads of advantage in the battlefield. 2 very simple to use cards that really elevate your lineup. Do consider adding them to your collection.
Let's continue to grow and find path in modern as we journey on playing Splinterlands.
