Adapting to Modern: Getting to Know Your Rebellion Core Set Part 30

Prelude
Greeting to all, we are starting a new week and welcome back to another new post on Adapting to Modern where I look at how I crossed over from playing in Wild Battles till today focusing and getting more cards on Modern Battles, sharing with the community the struggles, the strategies and things I do to move towards playing in Modern. I think with more foundation cards coming into battles, it brings more fun and hopefully we do have more new players amongst us to make this a vibrant community. And for sure we need to accelerate our learning and integrate accordingly.

Rebellion Core Set Cards

Similar to the previous post for this series, we will begin discussing card from the Rebellion Core Set. Using a similar method when I reviewed the Soul Bound reward cards, I will be discussing about the growth of the cards and will give a simple review to whether or not investing into them will level up your game play or not. And let's continue our review and look at 2 common cards from neutral splinter in today's review.

Grimbardun Fighter

The first neutral splinter common card that we will reviewing today will be Grimbardun Fighter. One key thing about this card is that it is a dwarf and will naturally be having affinity to the Conclave Arcana dwarf archon which will give it void on top of the shield it gets at level 1. And this will make this card very tough to take down with strong resistance to both physical and magic attacks. This card gains more armour and health stat it levels up and even gain deflect at high levels which make this an even more sturdy budget tank to use when using dwarf bloodline. Really strong and good defensive abilities with superb bloodline synergy.

Nimbledook Ranger

Next card we will look at will be Nimbledook Ranger whom is Gnome and will synergize with death splintr gnome archon. However, there is another way this card will thrive which is through the battle tactics archon Prophet Rosa that will give this card +2 range attack. And many times, I met this combination on the battlefield and it did cause me big problems. With snipe, this card will be a nemesis to range or magic attacks. The interesting thing is that this card only get some armour at level 5. I like the double strike of this card just that at lower levels, this card is a little squishy. Otherwise, a very decent card, budget friendly backline attacker. Not the best out there but definitely decent enough.

Assessment
2 common cards that are being reviewed today of which both are rather decent and for sure having strong synergies with their respective bloodline which is something very important in current gameplay. Many times, we just needed that extra card to use and fill up that un-used mana or tap on the bloodline abilities or buff, and this is where things get interesting with the additional advantages that come our way.

Rating wise, Grimbardun Fighter would be getting a rating of 4/5 from me. This card just suits the dwarf archon so well to give it a complete tank with really decent stats and good damage output while being tough against all kinds of attacks. As for Nimbledook Rager, I would give it a rating of 3.6/5 considering the bloodline synergy or using Prophet Rosa to make this a 2x3 damage beast that can really hurt. Only not so good thing if not boosted will be the high mana cost required for this card.

My recommendation will be to get Grimbardun to at least level 6 if you can for the deflect otherwise level 1 itself works well and Nimbledook Ranger to at least level 3 to improve its survivability at 5 health at least to survive 2x poison in case of Noxious Fumes ruleset.

Wrap Up
Rebellion do really have good cards that are available and with Conclave Arcana establishing its foothold, synergies built amongst them will yield loads of advantage in the battlefield. And today we saw two card that are part of the established bloodline and able to tap on the bloodline buffs. The modern gameplay is evolving constantly with new ways to play considering the bloodline combinations. I like how things are moving through on the set releases and certainly hope to be able to learn more about the cards and better my gameplay on the battlefield.
