LOH Contest No. 273: How to survive our liquid modernity

Hello, my dear ladies' community 😌 I hope you're all doing wonderfully. I'm so excited to be back sharing and posting with you all; I've been a bit absent due to work and family matters, but we're back in action now. This time, I want to participate in the contest by specifically answering question number one: What advice would you share for acquiring knowledge in a constantly changing world? I found the question quite relevant to what we're currently experiencing, and in some ways, it's a problem that doesn't always have the best solution. I hope my answer is helpful and, above all, that you like it.

Estoy muy emocionada de volver a compartir y publicar con ustedes; He estado algo ausente por cuestiones de trabajo y familiares, pero ya estamos nuevamente activos. En esta oportunidad, quiero participar en el concurso respondiendo específicamente a la pregunta número uno: ¿qué consejo compartirías para adquirir conocimientos en un mundo que está en constante cambio? La pregunta me pareció bastante acertada en relación con lo que estamos viviendo actualmente y, en ciertos aspectos, es una problemática que no siempre tiene la mejor solución. Espero que mi respuesta sea de utilidad y, sobre todo, que les agrade.

Primarily, to offer advice on these topics, it's essential to understand the situations we live in. In today's world, we observe a fluid dynamic where everything moves extremely fast and there's no time to rest. Everything is done hastily, and this urgency prevents us from sitting down, confronting, and accepting the situations that arise. We lack the necessary pause to observe and understand our surroundings, which often leads to states of shock. Furthermore, this creates an imbalance in people, as they are not accustomed to such accelerated movement and the changing scenarios that occur daily, whether as a consequence of climate change, political, geopolitical, historical, social, or cultural situations, among others.

Principalmente, para ofrecer un consejo sobre estos temas, es fundamental tener claras las situaciones en las que vivimos. En el mundo actual, se observa una modalidad líquida donde todo es extremadamente rápido y no hay tiempo para descansar. Todo se hace con prontitud, y esta urgencia nos impide sentarnos, afrontar y aceptar las situaciones que ocurren. No tenemos esa pausa necesaria para observar nuestro entorno y comprenderlo, lo que a menudo provoca estados de conmoción. Además, esto genera un desequilibrio en las personas, ya que no están acostumbradas al movimiento tan acelerado y a los cambios de escenarios que se presentan día a día, ya sea como consecuencia del cambio climático, situaciones políticas, geopolíticas, históricas, sociales, culturales, entre otras.

And this will affect young people and older adults the most. Therefore, keeping that in mind, my best advice would be to take things slowly, one step at a time. Because if you rush, you won't accomplish anything you set out to do. Also, study things you enjoy and learn skills you can do, like nail art, eyebrow shaping, and other things, and gradually familiarize yourself with new technologies. Above all, don't be too demanding, because you have to understand that in this life we are lifelong learners and we will never reach a state of absolute knowledge. Every day we learn something new, no matter how small, and this is necessary to make these kinds of processes more manageable.

Y que justamente esto va a afectar más a jóvenes y adultos mayores. Por lo mismo, al tener claro ese factor, mi mayor consejo sería llevar las cosas con calma, ir paso a paso. Porque si uno se apresura, al final no va a cumplir nada de lo que se proponga. Además, estudiar cosas que les agraden y adquirir conocimientos de oficios que puedan realizar, como hacer uñas, cejas, entre otras cosas, e irse familiarizando poco a poco con las nuevas tecnologías. Sobre todo, no buscarse, porque hay que aprender que en esta vida somos eternos aprendices y nunca vamos a llegar a un conocimiento máximo. Todos los días vamos a aprender algo nuevo, por más pequeño que sea, y esto es necesario para poder llevar este tipo de procesos de manera más llevadera.

But above all, attitude is the fundamental factor that will redefine how they learn. They must have an open mind to acquire knowledge, whether empirical or through whatever means they know best. Adults understand how they study and grasp learning, whether empirical or behavioral; they already know how to do it and it's easier to guide them. In contrast, a teenager can be a bit more complicated, although there have been cases where they do know how to do it. So, I would say that, in addition to studying trades they enjoy and that currently generate income, it's important to study those they are passionate about, beyond the monetary factor. Above all, with a good learner's attitude, with humility, and with an open mind to the knowledge that can be imparted to them in any way. Living life at a good pace is essential, because, although it is true that liquid modernity affects us all, we can cope with it in a calmer way, whether with a day of rest, an afternoon in the park, among other activities that we can do to balance this fast-paced world in which we live.

Pero, sobre todo, la actitud es lo fundamental que va a redefinir cómo pueden aprender. Deben tener la mente abierta para adquirir conocimiento, ya sea empírico o de la manera que ellos sepan. Los adultos comprenden la forma en la que estudian y captan el aprendizaje, ya sea empírico o conductual; ellos ya saben hacerlo y es más fácil guiarlos. En cambio, un adolescente puede ser un poco más complicado, aunque se han visto casos en los que ellos sí saben hacerlo. Entonces, yo diría que, además de estudiar oficios que les gusten y actualmente generen dinero, es importante estudiar los que les apasionan, más allá del factor monetario. Sobre todo, con una buena actitud de aprendices, con humildad, y tener la mente abierta al conocimiento que les puedan impartir de cualquier manera. Llevar la vida a un buen ritmo es esencial, porque, aunque es cierto que la modernidad líquida nos afecta a todos, podemos sobrellevarla de una manera más tranquila, ya sea con un día de descanso, una tarde en el parque, entre otras actividades que podemos realizar para equilibrar este mundo tan rápido en el que estamos viviendo.

And well, from my own experience, what I've learned is that over 80% of what will define how we fare and how we adapt to global changes is our attitude towards them. And there, we must always maintain a humble and learning attitude because this keeps your mind completely open and makes it much easier to learn, much easier to accept your mistakes, and much easier to accept that we know nothing and that knowledge is pure gold. This is sometimes difficult to apply to adults because, being of an advanced age, not everyone thinks they have all the higher education and know everything, but the reality is different. And with teenagers, it's the arrogance of youth; they think they can conquer the world, and the story is completely different. So these kinds of factors will determine how they can make a noticeable change and improve.

Y bueno por experiencia propia lo que yo he podido aprender es que más del 80% que va a definir cómo nos va a ir y cómo nos vamos a adaptar a los cambios mundiales es la actitud que tengamos ante ellos y ahí siempre hay que tener una actitud humilde y de aprendizaje porque esto hace que tu mente esté completamente abierta y se te haga mucho más fácil aprender mucho más fácil aceptar tus errores y mucho más fácil aceptar que no sabemos nada y que el conocimiento es oro puro Y esto es difícil a veces aplicarlo en los adultos porque como ya tienen una edad avanzada no todos piensan que ya tienen todos los estudios superiores y se la saben todas más una pero la realidad es otra y con los adolescentes es la soberbia de la edad que piensen que se pueden comer al mundo y la historia es completamente otra entonces este tipo de factores va a determinar como ellos pueden lograr hacer un cambio notorio y mejorar
