Presently no web browsers can connect with internal Qortal sites, though there is an extension that is in testing that allows access to Qortal's resources, via either a gateway site, or a local node. It provides access to most things on Qortal, not just websites or blogs. π π π β¨ π€

I assumed that conventional web browsers can connect to internal #Qortal network sites just by applying special configurations, as long as the computer the web browser runs on is a Qortal node. π€π€―π

Well, there is a way to connect to a node using a web browser as a UI, though a lot of functionality is unavailable connecting that way. π π π β¨ π€

I wonder whether you are referring to TLS functionality being enabled on conventional web browsers making other functionalities unavailable, or connecting to an external #Qortal node in general makes many functionalities unavailable. π€π€―π€―π€

No, I mean functionality of the browser-based UI for Qortal, it has a lot fewer things that can be done compared to the actual UI, or even the beta versions of the new UI that is being developed now. Connecting to a node via the UI does not make features unavailable, though connecting via SSH would. π π π β¨ π€

Looks like you mean that #Qortal has its own native app that is significantly different from conventional web browsers, though it can also be accessed by such mainstream browsers with reduced functionality. π€π€―π€

!INDEED
That is essentially correct, yes. The native app, or UI, is like a portal into Qortal. A new UI is in the works, and it's coming along nicely, but it still lacks a fair bit of functionality. π π π β¨ π€

I wonder how powerful a mobile device needs to be when #Qortal gets finally released for Android, iOS, or other mobile operating systems. π€π€―π€π

Quite a bit more powerful than they are now, I'd say. Qortal can run on RasberryPi, though I'm not aware of an actual node running off of a phone or tablet. The bandwith usage would also be really high. π π π β¨ π€

Raspberri Pi is technically a computer, so more powerful models can perform at least as good as a desktop/laptop computer. π€
The bandwidth usage of a #Qortal node (or nodes of other "sovereignty-driven" platforms) isn't a problem for mobile phones as long as they are connected to the Internet not using cellular data (such as WiFi). π€

Indeed, and those are the lowest hardware specs that will work with Qortal presently, other than using the mobile Qortal UI that connects via a gateway node.
Well, one Qortal node on a network uses terabytes of bandwidth, so two would likely push the data usage too high, though I do know several people that run backup nodes. π π π β¨ π€

I wonder what you mean with "lowest hardware specs", since I haven't said any model or hardware specifications on the "Raspberry Pi" on my previous comment. π€π€―
You didn't say how long it takes for a typical #Qortal node on its network use a terabyte of bandwidth, though I assume it's just a month, with more nodes on the network likely increasing further the bandwidth usage. π€―π
Anyway, here's probably my last reply to your comments for the day (following UTC time zone), because I have already tipped you all the tokens I can do so for you for today (except !DIY again). π€π€― That looks fast! π
I mean that Raspberry Pi is the lowest-end hardware on which a Qortal node will run successfully.
Yeah, about a month for Qortal bandwidth usage. Yes, more nodes would definitely not help the situation.
OK, sounds good! May the rest of your tipping and commenting be enjoyable! πππβ¨π€

Maybe you want to acquire a #RaspberryPi to try hosting a #Bastyon node (and/or other sovereignty-driven nodes)! π€π€
Hosting a #Qortal node is surely not something you would do on a metered data plan! π€πΈπ€―π

I know Qortal can run on a Raspberry Pi, but I'm not sure about a Bastyon node.
Yeah, doing that would be a very bad idea indeed. πππβ¨π€

I've never actually used the browser extension, but I do run my local node, and I can use gateway nodes on the Qortal Android app. πππβ¨π€

Maybe that #Qortal extension was more rigorously tested on another web browser than the one you used (either #Vivaldi or #Brave, though I presume the former). π€π€―π€

That's probably at least part of the issue. Yep, Vivaldi first, though I did finally mirror my setup to Brave. πππβ¨π€

Both #Vivaldi and #Brave are based on the #Chromium engine. π€π€ Maybe you (or someone else here on Hive) would test in on #Firefox !INDEED. ππ

Some people who love FOSS apps are concerned about what would happen if the development of both Firefox-based and Chromium-based web browsers is discontinued. π€π€―
Let's leave the testing of the #Qortal extension for most (if not all) web browsers to Qortal testers !INDEED! ππ

Thankfully other web-browser engines are already in development, and there are a whole lot of Chromium and Firefox-based browsers, so it is exceedingly unlikely that they will all be discontinued any time soon. πππβ¨π€

I mean that if the development of #Firefox itself is discontinued (by its core developers), all web browsers that are based on that web browser would struggle to get updated (especially the codes involving security), unless the developers of such forks would volunteer to maintain the base project itself. π€π§ββοΈπ€― The same with #Chromium. π€π
!HOPE
!LOLZ
With the present financial situation with Mozilla, that may actually happen. Any projects which do not fork and continue development on their own, will likely end when development on Firefox ends. πππβ¨π€
