Don't forget the #Honeycomb network too, where the SPK network shows more promise than either DLUX or DUAT. π€ I see that the SPK (and also DLUX) projects have received quite a lot of funding from Hive Proposals !INDEED. π€

Oh, I know, and I was thinking about that too as I responded last night, I just didn't put it into words. Yes, Honeycomb/SPK is quite promising indeed, and I look forward to it being up and running, and fully functional. πππβ¨π€

Perhaps you would like to run your own SPK node (or a DLUX or DUAT node, but the networks of both nodes aren't working right now) which might help support the #Honeycomb SPK network! ππ

Since I can only really run one laptop 24/7 with our present electrical resources, that's not feasible, as I've mentioned before. I am not going to try to run two nodes on the same system. πππβ¨π€

When was the last time you tried to run a virtual machine (VM) on one of your laptops? π€ I would safely assume that you would use only Linux (and Android) OSes there. π

I think that you would use VMs if ever you decide to host other nodes (the #Honeycomb SPK node in this case), so that any problem with the node would unlikely affect your laptop itself (as you can simply shut down the VM in case it uses up more CPU and RAM than you expect). π€

My system's pretty hefty, 64GB of RAM, and a 13th-generation i9 processor, so I'm sure that the system itself could handle it, but it would also mean that I'd use a whole lot more bandwidth and data, which wouldn't be good, since I already use more than anyone else in the community. πππβ¨π€

Running a #Honeycomb node would !INDEED use up significantly more bandwidth, as the last time @savvytester checked about 3 years ago when all of the SPK, DLUX, and DUAT networks were up, it takes roughly 1 GB per day to keep a node up, and that's after the initial sync which is somewhere between 5 to 20 GB. πΈπ€―π€―π
!WEIRD !HOPE !WINEX !ALIVE
Yep, exactly, that's precisely part of why I don't run more than one node, Qortal, which between it and updating my Arch Linux installations, uses a huge amount of bandwidth each month as it is now. πππβ¨π€

Perhaps when much more network bandwidth is available for your local jungle community (and you in particular), you would finally try hosting some of those nodes (likely in a VM first). π

Perhaps so, though the electrical system would also need to be a lot more dependable than it is now. For internet, I'll probably end up getting Starlink at some point. πππβ¨π€

Their "SPK files" (which can be accessed at https://www.dlux.io/storage/) sounds promising because they use a potentially decentralized cloud storage that doesn't cost anything except the credits from "SPK Power" which on Hive is similar to Resource Credits. π€ It's yet to be in production stage though. π€―π

There are some blockchain platforms which have social media features (such as Arweave) where people must pay tokens (not just something similar to Resource Credits that regenerate for free over time) to publish posts or comments there, and there is no way to earn directly from content there (while there are workarounds such as putting cryptocurrency wallet addresses there for donations). π€ I would like to see Hive provide decentralized image (and other file type) hosting though (which the SPK network is already testing but has been taking quite a long time). π€
!PIZZA !INDEED !ALIVE !STRIDE !UNICOIN
I have no idea why people use frameworks like that. It seems like far more hassle than it's worth to me. I can't wait for the SPK network either, and yes, it's been taking forever indeed. πππβ¨π€

The advantage of certain other blockchain platforms (such as #Arweave) is that any type of media (even videos and apps themselves) can be put directly onto the blockchain, though every megabyte costs a certain amount of tokens (depending on network conditions). πΈπ€

I wonder what would happen if the Hive blockchain gets a fork where anyone can put a huge amount of data per post or comment (let's say up to 20 megabytes per post), provided that the Hive account has enough Resource Credits to support such transaction !INDEED. πΈπ€―π
!WEIRD !HOPE !PIZZA !ALIVE !WINEX
Storing large amounts of data, especially media files, directly on the blockchain never goes well. A far better solution is to have a decentralized data layer, like Qortal has with QDN (Qortal Data Network). πππβ¨π€
