My 207th Sunday Weekly Hive Goals and Progress Update: The Hive-Engine Hack, Its Collateral Damage, and the Increasing Difficulty of Investing Within the Hive Blockchain Ecosystem - Lower Puna, Far East Big Island, Hawai'i - Sunday, May 17, 2026

Welcome to my 207th Sunday Weekly Hive Goals and Progress Update! Well, I'm sorry to say that I don't have a whole lot of positive news to report from this past week, and not because there wasn't solid growth in many areas, as there certainly was. The Hive-Engine hack yesterday via an EVM bridge, that drained the backing (real) assets for several off-chain-linked assets, such as SWAP.ETH, SWAP.SOL, SWAP.BNB, SWAP.GIFU, and SWAP.USDT, which rendered those synthetic assets worthless, highlights the fragility, and the increasing challenges, of investing and leveraging assets within the Hive Blockchain Ecosystem.

This hack not only hit investors in those SWAP assets directly, it also caused quite bad collateral damage to various Hive projects, including to the We Are Alive Tribe. Because of this hack, the @bee.voter HIVE-for-BEE delegation service was discontinued, and with it went the We Are Alive Tribe's primary weekly HIVE income. That is really not a good thing, as it means that soon we will have to completely redo, and notably decrease, our whole community economic flow.

On my own account I've been able to more easily roll with the strong consecutive investment punches. That's sadly not the case with my asset-managing endeavors for the We Are Alive Tribe, because one after another, we've lost multiple important weekly income sources. Since January, when we were still in a sustainable economic place, to now near the end of May, most of the income sources on which we've depended for our weekly operations have collapsed and vanished, which now leaves us on very unsustainable economic footing to say the least. It's hard to build a thriving community economy when the various necessary parts of it are not dependable or reliable over time. It's like building a house on shifting sand. I do my best, but it keeps getting harder and harder to make it all work.

That's all I've got for the moment. Yes, there was growth, as you can see below, though I definitely don't feel triumphant given the current state of Hive and the 'We Are Alive Tribe' economy. I won't give up, though I still need to recover from this most recent blow.

Over the past week I gained +111.328 Hive Power, +6.292 HBD in Savings, and +0.04 Reputation Points, which means that I still have 5,715.912 HP and 105.722 HBD in Savings to go to achieve my 2026 year-end goals. The jump in HBD in Savings came from claiming 6+ in interest yesterday morning. I will very likely reach 74 Reputation before the end of this year, which surprises me quite a bit.

In terms of my HiveBuzz rankings, I hopped up +4 places for HP, I jumped up +4 place for HBD in Savings, and I leaped up +14 places for Reputation, so yeah, a lot of 4s this week it would seem. My rankings for HP and HBD in Savings are both rising very slowly now, with my ranking for Reputation continuing with strong leaps each week.

With Hive's progressively weakening position and footing across most metrics, I honestly don't know what's going to happen, or what's to come of it, but I deeply hope and pray that Hive is able to shift for the better very soon, because the path that we're on is not going to a good place.
