I Am #AliveAndThriving Today! || #IAmAliveChallenge || Daily Off-Grid Jungle Journal Entry: Day #911 - 8,700 HP Surpassed, and Internet Down! - GaiaYoga Gardens, Lower Puna, Far East Big Island, Hawai'i - Friday, January 24, 2025

I live naked and barefooted, very close to Earth and Nature, in an 18-acre, off-grid, clothing-optional, food-forest intentional community (GaiaYoga Gardens), way out in the jungles of Lower Puna, far East Big Island, Hawai'i, and I have for more than 5 years now. Although there are many challenges, I love my life, and I'm immensely grateful to live where and how I do, on my own terms! I would not want to live any other way! 😁🙏💚⚡💥🔥✴️✳️❇️👣🌱✨🤙

Three events of note happened yesterday, two being very good things on Hive, while the other was a not-quite-so-beneficial jungle infrastructure failure. I mentioned the first one in my post yesterday, my second successful fiat investment, and fourth successful investment in total, into Hive. The second one, crossing the threshold of 8,700 Hive Power, was the other good news, that occurred in the early evening. I wasn't even paying much attention to my HP, when I happened to notice that it had past another milestone on my irrevocable march to Whalehood, much to my satisfaction.

The last significant thing that happened yesterday came with a very intense lightning storm, something that is very rare in this area. The storm somehow messed up our internet connection by causing multiple ethernet heads and switches to stop working properly, and both last night, and today in the morning, I did my best to troubleshoot and fix the issue, sadly to no avail. So as soon as I get this post, and my other Hive tasks done, I probably need to devote the rest of my day to resolving the problem, and I pray that I am able.

Usually I'm able to fix network problems quite quickly, because I know clearly how our system is set up, because I'm the one who put most of it together. This time, however, it's much more challenging because I'm getting inconsistent and and unusual behavior. The fact that the electrical storm seems to have muffed up multiple switches and ethernet heads, this appears to be a far more complex issue than I had expected, or with which I've had to deal in the past, so I have a lot of testing ahead of me today.

Maintaining functional and stable electrical and internet systems out here, off-grid in the jungle, takes quite a lot of work over time, I must say, but that's what's required under these technologically unfriendly conditions. It's actually rather astounding that we're able to keep everything working so well for such long stretches of time, but invariably, some component of the systems fail, making it necessary to troubleshoot and fix it to the best of our ability, which sometimes requires a bit of improvisation.

With the present state of the network, and the information that I have now, I think that I know what the remaining issues are, and how to fix them. As to whether or not I'll be able to fix them is another question, as one ethernet head (which I already changed, and which was the most challenging head change I've ever done) is too short for me to change the head again if it turns out to be the problem, so I'm really hoping that it's a simple ethernet-head change on the other end of the ethernet cord. All fingers and toes crossed.

Yesterday, Friday, I left the Flow House, after finishing up my Hive tasks, around 2PM, focusing first on some photography for these posts, then redirecting it to my third round of clearing and preparing my old nursery space right behind the Landing, when the clouds made photographic conditions less than ideal. I got a lot more done in this old nursery space, and I'm getting close to being done, very thankfully. One benefit to having it covered in weeds for a few years is that they made some excellent soil, which I've begun to collect and sift through a wire mesh, to remove all the larger debris. I had planned to continue with that today, but it will probably have to be put on hold until tomorrow, due to needing to fix the internet issue. Once I reached a good stopping point, I took a shower, and then a short token-management break up at the Flow House, before getting my machete to collect a wheelbarrow full of assorted edible foliage for cow-milking food. With that done, I stopped by the Landing to get my jar of leftover superfood fire coffee from the fridge, and I headed back to the Flow House, to get into my evening Hive tasks, and to catch up on my notifications. The electrical storm definitely slowed me down a bit, especially considering that I had to take quite a lot of time to try to fix the internet connection, at which I was obviously not successful. I finally finished everything up by around 11PM, and after some token management, and a scan of my X feed, I went to bed around 12AM. I woke up just before 7:30AM, having slept pretty well, doing more token management, starting on this post, then getting out of bed to go make my superfood fire coffee in the Landing, and to try a few more things to fix the internet issue, also unsuccessfully. I had to stop to go milk Daisy with Jo, and as soon as I was done, I returned to the Flow House to write this post. It's now just before 1:45PM, so a great time to end this post, so that I may get to my few other important Hive tasks, before leaving the Flow House a little later in the afternoon, to take more photos for these posts, and for my entry in the Reflection Hunters Contest, strain and blend kefir (kefir-honey-cinnamon-cacao) in the Landing, then back to my main task today of fixing our internet connection. 2025 Life Goals

1.) Do regular integral practices again, alone or with others.

2.) Prepare regular batches of my medicinal teas collected from the land again.

3.) Make my plant nursery, and the gardens, beautiful again.

4.) Begin learning relevant coding/programming languages to more fully contribute to the sovereignty-driven technologies where I am active, like Arch Linux, Hive, Qortal, DeSo, and Bastyon.
