RE: Ask Me Anything - Marky Edition - April 2025

what do you think is wrong what we do right now - why do people leave so soon (as normal social media user)?

We don't really do anything right now. The previous marketing proposal onboarded 67 people who had less than 1 hive combined between all of them, all of which was gained from memo spam.

What is the best marketing initiative at the moment and how (if any) can this be improved / optimized?

I don't know of any, most of the $3M+/year in DHF isn't remotely related to onboarding, just like our "Hivefeast" isn't for new users either.

Do you consider the brand name a problem as there are other Hive chain/companies out there

To some extent maybe, but not even remotely our biggest.

do we miss an important "positioning" part to be more relevant outside for real investors?

Yes, for example smart contracts was a big deal 10 years ago, now it is just expected and we still don't have them.

Thanks - good answers - in marketing I agree to a certain extent (given i do this professionally I have different opinions would could be done and what should be skipped) - DHF proposals I stay away to comment - some focus indeed is going into the wrong direction in my POV especially I do not not see the added value for Hive what is supported with "money" just saying Hive car as an example.

Think we too often talk about marketing where we need more PR - think we have enough PR stories to tell in general, isse how to make media pick them up, I mean mainstrwm (not blockchain media, they only want money - and this is no PR anymore)

Indded - even a guy called Ned Scott spoke about this ages ago in certain secret chats that we were close to immediate launch of smart contracts (7 years ago?).

@themarkymark, If You’re Truly Worried About Abuse of Power on Hive, It’s Time to Reflect and Act

@themarkymark, you’ve expressed concerns in the past about others abusing their power on Hive—especially when it comes to proposals that take money out of the ecosystem. But let’s take a moment to reflect: What about your own actions?

The Buildawhale farm is still running, churning out comment spam, hoarding curation rewards, and enabling bad downvotes that silence honest users. These practices are some of the real issues holding Hive back. They exploit the system, discourage genuine participation, and damage Hive’s reputation.

If you’re serious about addressing abuse on Hive, here’s what needs to happen:

  • Turn Off the Buildawhale Farm: Stop the coordinated farming schemes that centralize rewards and undermine fairness.
  • End the Toxic Downvotes: Stop using downvotes as a weapon to silence critics and drive users away.

These actions don’t just harm individuals—they harm the entire ecosystem. And let’s be honest, what you’re doing right now with Buildawhale—running a comment farm, profiting from curation rewards, and enabling bad downvotes—doesn’t look good.

Does It Really Look Good to You?

If you genuinely believe these actions are beneficial for Hive, then the situation is even more concerning than we thought. How can Hive thrive when its resources are being funneled into exploitative schemes? How can new users feel welcomed when they’re met with toxicity and manipulation?

The truth is, Hive is heading downhill unless we address these core issues. Turning a blind eye or defending harmful practices only accelerates the decline.

Let’s Get to the Heart of the Issues

It’s time to stop deflecting and start focusing on real solutions. Hive deserves better—its users deserve better. Instead of contributing to the problem, be part of the solution. Turn off the Buildawhale farm, stop the abuse of downvotes, and work toward creating a fairer, more sustainable ecosystem.

LOL, but seriously—if this is what “helping Hive” looks like, then we’re in bigger trouble than anyone realized.

From the Bilpcoin Team: Transparency, accountability, and fairness are the keys to a stronger Hive. Let’s work together to make it happen.
