Splinterlands: Making Use of Jackpot Card White Chickadee

avatar

I first began my Splinterlands journey over four years ago, and it was through the game that I first discovered Hive. Sadly, at the time I didn't realize the potential I was missing by not blogging. I did eventually wizen up and started to share with everyone here on the ecosystem. Recently, I began playing Splterlands again with the creation of Frontier Mode, it really rekindled my affection for the game! It has less cards which makes it a real challenge against good players.

Recently Jackpot Cards were announced as a potential reward for playing in Frontier Mode. That got me exited because of course I wanted to add some of these four new cards to my deck to add to my playing strategies. However, the pull rate is 1.5% which makes the odds of finding one pretty low. It hasn't stopped me from trying, but alas, so for I've had no luck...

So plan B, I've been keeping my eyes open for people selling the cards cheap and I have scored a couple of good deals. I considered just flipping some of my purchases, but instead decided to try my luck in game play!

White Chickadee

White Chickadee was the card I picked up most recently, as a matter of fact two copies at a great price. I kept one and delegated the other to my alt account. It is a very fragile card with only one health and one speed, which means you have to be very selective about placement. To it's advantage it is a flying card! At level three it also becomes a tank heal which is a real game changer in Frontier Mode as that ability has been missing. But keep in mind this is an epic card so it isn't going to be very common, but if you pull a black copy is is automatically level 3. That would be awesome, I may get lucky yet!

Incessant Sage

If you are going to play the new Life card in Frontier Mode you'll have to use Incessant Sage. It's the only Life archon in the mode and grants you a buff on one armor per monster. Not a bad thing to have in the right situation. However, to be honest, it's one of my least favorite archons to use. I find Water, Earth, and Death archons to be more useful in most situations. But that is just my personal opinion. I'm sure many people will disagree!

Let's move onto some use of the new Chickadee in game play!

Now time to see the card in action! Choosing the right battle for this card was difficult as there are only a few scenarios that I could see it really be of significant value. This match I ended up playing on my alt account. I tried finding the right situation on my main account but it just didn't come up. Then I saw a match with equal health across all units and a low mana, I had found the perfect spot for it!

You can see the whole battle at this link here.

As my archon I went with the only one available in the Life splinter, Incessant Sage. The one drawback from using this archon is that the rule set is no armor, so it won't really give me any buffs. My tank was of course White Chickadee followed by Sherringham Logger and A'lan Musketeer to round off the team.

My opponent was a little wiser in archon selection with Aurelia which boosts health of all the monsters on the team. The chosen tank was the neutral Splellmonger followed by Mad Gearhead which is a great reach card. The tail end of the team was also A'lan Musketeer.

After round one both of our tanks were taking all the damage. As predicted there were some misses on my flying tank.

Near the end of round two things were winding down. Both tanks has been eliminated and we were on our secondary cards. Here I got a little worried. My Sherringham Logger got knocked down to one health before Mad Gearhead went down for the count.

Since the Musketeer is ranged and can't fire in first position, it was game over...

And one ranged attack from my Musketeer finished it all off!

Winning this one was a bit of luck to be honest, it depended a lot on missing hits on the White Chickadee as it is a flying type. But it does demonstrate one very useful way in which you can use this new card! As I experiment I may find others, but until I have a level three with ten copies there will be no tank heal! Nevertheless, I'm thrilled to have this as part of my collection, it's always fun to have a new toy!

Frontier Mode is free to play and you are given free starter cards in Campaign Mode.

That will do it for my Splinterlands post for this week. I do hope you enjoyed seeing the White Chickadee in action, or at least a good use case scenario. Please feel free to leave any comments or questions below, and thank you for all of your support. It really is deeply appreciated! Have a great day everyone!

Thanks! The Musketeer is a great card, and I end up using it in most of my Frontier battles! Not sure how the Chickadee will really fit in yet, but working on it!
