Mexican Beautiful Gold and Some Music From Mexico, Colombia, and Puerto Rico!

No, it's not Cinco de Mayo, not quite yet anyway! This is a coin that I have wanted to add to my collection for many, many long years now, but never found the right deal. I keep hoping, but when I saw this yesterday it made me remember just how much I love Mexican produced gold coins. They are truly gorgeous, and I highly recommend owning a few if you can ever fit it in your budget!

This is the Twenty Pesos gold coin produced from 1917 until 1959, and one of my favorite coins that I don't have in my stack. Have a look at this one from 1918!

These beautiful coins have the classic golden eagle perched on a prickly pear cactus with a rattlesnake in it's beak. On the reverse (back) it the Sun Stone or Aztec Calendar which is a valuable part of Mexican culture and tradition. It composed of 0.4823 Troy ounces of gold, and random dates are being sold at APMEX for $2,357. These are the slightly imperfect coins, they near pristine one's come at a much higher price tag! Isn't that beautiful?

Why the Mexican gold coin today? It's been a long time since I've shared any music in Spanish, and this felt like a fun lead up into some tunes from Mexico, South America, and the Caribbean. This should be a fun change of pace and all of my Spanish speaking friends out there might enjoy some of them! So @cositav and @yusmelys you might enjoy!

Thalia

First up I had to put a Mexican artist since I started with a Mexican gold coin. Thalia has been a singer and dancer since her early years in the band Timbiriche before a very successful solo career. She currently is a mogul of enterprises from fashion to makeup, but it all started with her talented voice and dancing. This is a medley of some of her tunes I believe performed in the early 2000's, but she shows off just how good her vocal skills are transitioning between songs in this one. It's really good, enjoy!

Juanes

This guy is a heavy metal/ death metal singer at heart, starting his career in the genre in Colombia. Realizing there wasn't much market for it he switched to more mainstream music and has a huge career. He continues to write and tour frequently, and puts on a good show. I saw him live once in El Paso, Texas of all places! This one is called "A Dios Le Pido" (I Ask God):

La Quinta Estación

This group is originally from Spain but relocated to Mexico City after struggling to find an audience. It paid off in a big way as their second album was a huge best seller with multiple hits. This is one of their biggest hits where lead singer Natalia Jimenez really shows off her vocal talents, she has an amazing voice! "Algo Más" (Something More):

Elvis Crespo

Last up a Puerto Rican singer born in New York City, Elvis Crespo became popular in the late 1990's singing Merengue. He has some really catchy tunes that are fun to listen to, and dance merengue. One of the best skills I picked up living in Puerto Rico was learning how to dance salsa and merengue, both are a lot of fun! Anyways, this song is called "Suavemente" (Gently):
