Is Liberty and World Stability Starting to Crack?
Twenty-four years ago today my life took a drastic change in direction. I had recently moved back to the United States for further training to advance my career. Then the horrific attacks of Sept. 11, 2001 happened and I did something I had never considered in my life. I called an Army recruiter and joined the Army Reserves as an officer. I spent twenty years serving at home and abroad, mostly as in reserves but some active duty as well.
I was able to save a lot of lives the way and that really made it worth while!

Now fast forward twenty-four years to today. First off, I'm not a political guy and get sick of constant politics. I have better things to worry about. But the last few years the world has been becoming such a mess. Day by day it seems to becoming less and less stable.
Starting in the US
In the US yesterday we saw the political assassination of Charlie Kirk, an conservative activist murdered due to hatred and failure to understand the opinion of another. Not only was he denied his right to free speech, but his right to life. It also took a father from young children. It really was a senseless act of hatred carried out the day before the 24th anniversary of the Sept. 11th attacks... I don't care what side of the ideology you fall on, we're all Americans. The hatred and division in our nation needs to calm down, just my humble opinion.
I didn't serve our nation for 20 years just to watch it all fall apart...
Other Messes in the World
Yesterday Russia fired off some 20 drones into Poland, a member on NATO. All promptly were shot down by NATO air defenses of several NATO nations. If one of those drones had hit a populations center or military installation it could have easily sparked World War 3. I think Putin is testing the waters to see what he can get away with and the responses to expect. He may have been hoping to see how quick the response would be on the part of NATO. But just the fact that he is even pushing those buttons should terrify us all. He may be planning a full fledged attack on NATO.
And then there is the prospect of China taking Taiwan by military action. They have been practicing the takeover with military drills for some time now, the only question that remains is when will the trigger be pulled? They may be hoping for Putin to get into a conflict with NATO making it much less easy for NATO to come to the aid of Taiwan. However, China wants Taiwan back as part of their nation whether they like it or not. Another potential start to World War 3...
The Middle East is another whole disaster, but I'm done ranting for today.
I know this is a departure from my usual content, but things are starting to get more than just a little spooky out there in the world. My hope is that all will work out without more conflict, but as a realist I know that rarely happens. At any rate, I hope tomorrow will be a brighter day for the world that the last couple have been. Yes too much stuff going on everywhere. Its very tense for so many people. I feel you friend.
It's a mess everywhere, and people around our own country are nearing the boiling point. It's terrifying to see what some of these "talking" heads are saying on the "news" channels. Twenty-four seven news is no longer a news channel, it's entertainment that has become indoctrinating. It's sad, damn I miss the simple life when the world only had to deal with the Cold War!
Yes defintely feel like we have to eyes on our back. I remain neutral and do not express or get upset with others views because you simply dont know what will happen. Sometimes feel are liberties come with unexpected results m, shouldn't be that way.
Your rant has been on mind for years. We know China are pushing closing to taking Taiwan and we have been at war with Russia for fluffing years. They have just upped it though. People have short memories. Putin is testing and see how far things will go. Trump has huffed and puffed and done absolutely nothing. Being the bully is working for Putin. Enough ranting though.
9/11 was horrific. We were living in Florida and I was watching telly in bed and said to Mrs T that'll be bloody Al Qaeda.
It was horrific as her cousin was working in one of the towers. It took us hours to hear from him. He survived as he was on one of the lower floors, but he has been traumatised beyond belief and still has nightmares and survival guilty. I can't imagine seeing so many falling bodies etc.

Thank you brother! Things aren't going to end well, and the horrors of World War II are going to look like a walk in the park compared to round three. Putin is picking his time to make a move on Poland, China is doing the same with Taiwan. It's like people have forgotten just how bad the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan were, and they were turkey shoot compared to World War II. It's hard to believe in only 80 years the world has returned to the doorstep of World War, and all due to the greed of a few men. Just like the last time around.
I'm glad your wife's cousin survived the tower, but that trauma will never go away completely. You can't un see the horrors of war, I still have nightmares and PTSD from it and those are my friends for life it would seem.
How did you enjoy living in Florida? I really liked it the months I stayed there, lot of diving and fishing! Where did you live?
There are people who benefited from this mess, but only the common citizen who will pay the ultimate price.
I am sorry for what happen to Charlie, i have watched a few of his video, with open mind I think we can learn a few from him, but maybe not many want to do that unfortunately.

Most people pay the price of too much hatred. He was a man of peace who believed in open debate no matter what you believed. But done respectfully and without malice. Something the world could learn from. Now his wife is left to raise two small kids alone, that's one the biggest tragedies and injustices of this horrific act. I hope that more people will become more open from this, but the world seems to be moving the other direction...

Thanks! It's something we all should be thinking about, I remember growing up in a smaller town and we all knew and helped care of our neighbors. That doesn't happen anymore, the country has fundamentally changed and not for the better. Keep stacking up that silver and gold!

There were many networks broadcast anchors celebrating, fortunately most were fired. It just shows an utter lack of respect for life and shows just how divided the nation has become. The last time the country was this polarized was right before the Civil War, and the country may be on the precipice of dissolution which I never thought would be possible. There's just too much hate and greed out there, maybe moving to the mountains of Idaho or Wyoming wouldn't be all bad!

The situation in the East has long been on my mind. If China invades Taiwan, Japan will get involved. So even if the US doesn't honor her obligation to Taiwan, it seems inevitable that Japan would pull her in. Even Trump, with his dislike of Japan, NATO, and.. well, seemingly everyone except Putin, would probably have no choice but to get involved. As soon as that happens, a local war becomes a world war. China already hates Japan's guts. A global conflict would be the perfect excuse to attack here as well.
Whew... I try not to think so much about it.
The US will have no choice as attack of Guam would likely precede it. It's going to be a World War and China knows it, that's why they've been building the largest peace time military in world history. One mistake Japan is making still is not starting a nuclear arms program, I know they hate the weapon as the sole country to have been attacked by them. But it would make China think twice before making any big moves. And if China does take Taiwan I'm sure Japan is next on the list... The world is looking less stable day by day and it's utterly terrifying.
The best you can do is try not to think about it too much and insulate your family from all of it as best as possible. And keep stacking silver and gold!
China isn’t going to attack. The trend is moving forward with Taiwan citizens 40% plus want to be reunited. The youth it’s 70%. China plays the long game and is not going to invade. USA government war ms hind just pushing the usual propaganda.
I've admired Charlie Kirk for his intelligence, sound reasoning and strength of character. Peaceful dialogue rather than by force. He was the last person who would demand any revenge but having faith in the Rule of Law and on God.
I have a strange feeling this marks a fundamental change in US Politic as if the rules have changed for the worse.

Anyone who uses sound reasoning and intelligence is already better than 95 percent of the politicians out there, and what he did was admirable and took some serious guts. I fear this may be a harbinger of dark days to come ahead in US politics, a push by revolutionaries to change the country. I feel horrible for his wife and young children, stealing a good father from his family is one of the worst things about the situation.

It's hard to believe it has been that long ago and nothing has really been resolved. I don't really know much about the guy that got killed, but I have seen some of his talks. I can't say I agree with a lot of what he said, but he had a right to say it and it's sad that someone is dead now. My wife's uncle was in the Pentagon when the plane hit that area.
I hope he survived the Pentagon attack. The Pentagon really is an outdated building to run the national defense. Way too centralized!
I really didn't know anything about the guy, but the fact that he pursued open debate peacefully says a lot about his character. Plus taking on the challenge of dealing with college age kids, not for me thanks! But assassination attempts are becoming way too common, a couple idiots tried to kill Trump already and now this evil guy kills this guy in cold blood. This isn't what America used to be, it's turning into a place that I don't even recognized anymore.
And hopefully come Christmas we aren't going to be in World War 3 already. Things are getting scary...
Oh yeah, he did, but he ended up passing from something medical a few years later. Before I got the chance to meet him. Plus those politicians that were killed. People seem to have forgotten about them already.
Glad to hear he survived the attack though. People in our nation have very short memories which is why history keeps repeating itself... If you don't learn from the past you are doomed to repeat it, one of the few things I do remember from history back in college!

God bless Charlie and his amazing legacy! His kids & whole family too. It’s come out his young kids witnessed it and were there along with his life. Just horrible. There are so called “normal” parts of society mocking a man’s murder. This is end of empire empty evil. I don’t watch media anymore but know clips, it’s pure evil. Charlie will be 100 times as influential after this, the good reactions and awakening I’m seeing outweigh the trash by a lot, but obviously it’s so gross and evil seeing murder praised it understandably is disturbing and over shadows the rest.
