A Rocking Halloween Three Tune Tuesday!

Halloween if finally upon us come Friday, so this will be the real Halloween edition of Three Tune Tuesday. It's always tough to choose three tunes as over the decades there have been so many great songs written for the holiday. Then there are those great movies from the horror franchises to the fun like "The Nightmare Before Christmas". I considered doing some more recent music from contemporary bands but sometimes the classics are the best...

But first off I want to say thank you to @ablaze for starting and continuing to sponsor this fun weekly event where you can share three songs that you enjoy. Let's dive into some good old fashioned Halloween fun!

AC/DC

You can't do Halloween without some classic AC/DC and their Highway to Hell. This Australian band has been at it since 1973 and aren't showing any signs of slowing down quite yet. "Highway to Hell" was first released in 1979 before the death of singer Bon Scott, but Brian Johnson joined the band in 1980 taking the reigns and Back in Black was born. Here's "Highway to Hell" live from 2009.

Alice Cooper

This legendary singer can almost be crowned the King of Halloween. His stage act is as much a music show as it is a magic act and theater production. If you ever get the chance don't miss one of his shows, even in his 70's he puts on a great act! This is his classic song from the mid 1970's, but recorded live from 1989 in England. This is "Wecome to My Nightmare":

Ozzy Osbourne

The late music legend Ozzy Osbourne died earlier this year, but not before producing decades of great music. After being fired from Black Sabbath for excessive drug use, he kicked off a very successful solo career. In 1983 he released the album Bark at the Moon with the featured hit by the same name. It's a perfect fit for for Halloween as it's about a werewolf coming back from the dead to seek his revenge!

And a bonus, you can't do Halloween without this song!

Iron Maiden

Formed in 1975 in London, England this heavy metal band has become a fan favorite over the decades. Led by singer Bruce Dickinson, in 1982 they put out one of their biggest albums The Number of the Beast. The same year Michael Jackson had released Thriller, in Jackson's horror masterpiece legend Vincent Price was integral in the song. Iron Maiden wanted Price to narrate for them as well, but he wouldn't do it for less than 25,000 English Pounds. So they went with plan B, English actor Barry Clayton. At any rate, it's a nice spooky song and perfect for Halloween!

A great showing of singers and bands for Halloween. I put Ozzy up near the top. Not far from me in Des Moines he bit the head off a bat a fan threw on stage. He claims he thought it was fake but can attest it was real due the series of rabies shots he got. Ive talked about Alice Cooper already. AC/DC such a pioneer heavy metal band. Three decades really of ruling the stage. Iron Maiden certainly rocked it and your right a perfect song for Halloween! Its always hard to choose a few for this week. I add Kiss, Misfits and maybe Rob Zombie as well still a lot of others though.

Ozzy biting off the head of the bat, what a classic! He was probably really high at the time, but those rabies shots must have really sucked. Back then they were in the abdomen!

I never really got into Iron Maiden at all. In fact, I don't know if I could pick them out if I heard them. I just remember the "fringe" kids at school wearing the tshirts back in the day.

I didn't really get into Iron Maiden until I was older, Bruce Dickinson has a great voice. Number of the Beast is one of their better known songs but far from their best. Songs like The Trooper and Aces High are great just to name a couple. I remember growing up in a smaller and more rural community they really talked badly of heavy metal bands. I heard claims that AC/DC was really short for Anti-Christ/Devil Child, KISS short for Knights in Satan's Service, etc... People really do have crazy ideas when they let religion drive their minds...

Great music though!

That's definitely the same kind of climate that I grew up in. I remember all the things they used to tell us about different bands and games and other things being tied to the occult.
