Social Media Course In High Schools, An Added Advantage?

This is a very interesting featured content from our loving community. One that will make us understand more on the need of how important social media awareness has become to our society.

Teaching social media as a course in our high schools is something I see as a big move if implemented due to how we see that social media has taken over the people of the world 🌎 impacting good opportunities in some while putting many others in danger.

Many people are invested in social media. The Facebook, Instagram, Telegram, YouTube, TikTok and many other. And most of these people are under age and the youths who are always immersed online in these platforms looking up constantly for information which many might be damaging and destructive. And why? Because the social media is so large and brings different opinions to different people, and many are being mislead due to how they lack understanding and needs directions.

This however brings us to how important it is for social media to have a class as a course in high schools where we mostly have the under age and youths who needs to be educated on one on one how the social media works. And because of how vast and influencing the social media has become, this group of people needs to know the areas and kind of informations to stay away from as many of them penetrate some links that are not meant for their age groups.

Making social media a class in the high schools definitely will be an avenue to create eye 👁 opening to these children who are still to be guided everyday in the actions they take and decisions they make. Some of these eye opening information through teaching will help these children know how to handle the online informations and at the same time help them with making decisions that will lead to being responsible and doing better.

Awareness and information are the two great tools children needs most in life especially as the 21st century came with fast pace learning methods through technology and innovation. These children are moving faster than even those that created these platforms not knowing how damaging it could be if they are not guided. So if a class is made available in the high schools to teach a course on social media, we all know how many of these children will be saved from the kind of behavior they show through surfing 🏄‍♀️ online. Because this class will teach them what is good on social media and at the same time what is bad. This is the awareness plus information that are vital.

However, while thinking 💭 about this great opportunity and advantage, is it something that will bring change considering how these children go extra miles with social media. And many do it secretly away from just the awareness of what their parents thinks putting themselves in dangers of all kinds. The people they meet on line that gives them wrong information, emotional stress they go through, and even cooping with other school subjects and activities can be overwhelming. So it might work or might not.

In conclusion, even the full grown adults are facing problems with the social media due to how too many informations leads to one problem or the other. Its not a place for fun especially for these under age. And lack of not understanding informations can be misleading which keeps making many overwhelmed. Therefore introducing a new course on social media might be over burdensome since this children are still trying to cope with their present curriculum.
