Am always excited 😆 whenever the weekend draws nearer because of how I value weekend relaxations after the week’s bustles and struggles. And I hope you all take time out too to also relax through the weekend especially with loved ones.

Thanks to our dear friend @irenenavarroart for these awesome topics. Motivating and interesting. I will choose to contribute on the first question topic:

1️⃣ You have earned the money to buy a house, and you have two options. The first is a big beautiful house, but one whose best years are behind it. It needs a lot of repairs and remodeling, and therefore its price is low. The second option is a small house. Its not as beautiful as the previous one, but you don’t have to invest time or money in repairs so its price is much higher than the previous one. What do you choose? Are you on the “repair to my liking” team or the “buy everything ready and fast” team?

Am practically going for the “buy everything ready and fast” team in this contest not considering how the smaller house is not beautiful but still more expensive because I have always loved small houses 🏡, most usually known as bungalows. Not just because of money factors involved here though, but this has to do with personal choice due to how bungalows are kind of apartments that looks unique even in this modern times. This choice also has to do with how I love ❤️ small family and bungalows which falls under small houses are also easily accessed by family living together. This totally is why I will prefer to buy the small house despite its more expensive and not beautiful.

And again, since I don’t have to invest any more time and extra money on repairs, its the best option for me because I may not have time on my hands to be following up on repairs which most times can be stressful and not on time schedules as expected. But all ready apartment is the vibe if you have worked so hard to earn the money 💰. I see building a house from scratch more compromising if I have enough money instead of buying an old building for repairs.

Unforeseen Circumstances

And considering the options and factors behind the two buildings, a big beautiful house might seem more appealing because of space involved, cost 💲 low for those who will like to buy and remodel, but frankly speaking, renovating and remodeling an old house is sometimes not what we see from the outside which most times involves other unforeseen circumstances that might cost the buyer more once sone part are broken for repairs and remodeling.

Although the cost 💲 of the big house is low because its old, but as a Realtor who has experience with building work, its very important to seek the advice of an Architect who will give an insight and more details after inspecting the building to know what the extra cost will be when compared to the cost 💲 of the smaller house.

Wear And Tear:

Landed properties they say appreciate with time which bulldogs are the major assets to land, but we should also know that properties if all types needs maintenance from time to time, so the larger the house, the larger the maintenance which is why a smaller house is always ideal at all times even though we consider extended families who will want to pay us visit in a while. So its not just buying the big beautiful house because of its low cost 💲 at the present, but the maintenance after years of repairs and remodeling due to constant wear and tear.

I have a family friend whose husband built a mansion because he had a good job then. And because of family and extended family too. After many years of their married life now, the daughter has married and left the country that she might only visit them once in a year like Christmas 🎅. The other two of their sons are right now in America 🇺🇸 schooling. The house has turned to a ghost land because of how big it is. They can hardly go round the room from time to time since its in duplex standard of about seven rooms excluding sitting rooms.

However, the problems with big houses is constantly cleaning every conners and surroundings. No matter how beautiful the house looks and appears, constant cleaning and maintaining are the most two essentials that will keep its beauty. And with these two, constant cost 💲 is also involved.

In conclusion, it’s important we know what are the advantages and disadvantages involved with wanting to buy a big beautiful old house 🏡 with low price that will need repairs and a smaller readily house that is called “Pay And Pack” in Nigeria 🇳🇬 my country. In all though, what matters is choice.
