Who says going to school 🏫 and being educated makes us to have an excellent manner as humans. Being a literate person many thinks and believes is just by acquiring good education level, but to me it’s beyond this belief because literacy does not only mean learning how to read, write ✍️ or speaking good English.

Being a literate person gives us the opportunity beyond reading, writing or speaking good English but the ability to understand and communicate with others decently and effectively, the ability to know how to relate with others exhibiting good manner and most of all, knowing how to function in situations of everyday lifestyle.

We then see a person as an illiterate because he or she does not possess this ability and quality of this human gift which is why a literate person must behave certainly in different ways showing and exhibiting characters that of good manner, have quick understanding to things happening around him or her especially those that needs ideas and resolving solutions. We should also note that being a literate person is an opportunity to having good morals, lay down principles and acting, seeing things so differently from the way a lay man acts and see things because the gap between the literate and the illiterate is the knowledge of reading 📖, writing ✍️ and all the teachings impacted into him or her which is indeed a huge difference between the two (2) human beings.

Literacy Does Not Guarantee Good Behavior:

We all know that going to school of any level in life does not guarantee that a literate person will have good manner. Exhibiting good characters which is known as behaviors is a thing of personal choice. In fact, our characters and the way we act comes from our personal decisions which most times is influenced by our personality. The person we are, the person we choose to be and then, where we are coming from.

A person of high level of education may decide to chose good manners or chose to behave badly because of individual choice. And this decision might be influenced by up bringing which he or she has embraced to keep up with be it good or bad. We can not pretend not to have seen those who called themselves educated people but exhibit the worst characters that keeps baffling us. And most times I wondered if these set of people ever went to school because their attitudes are disgusting that you had preferred to deal with an illiterate who you definitely know did not go to school 🏫.

And coming across these set of people in life , my mind will always go first to their parents and how will they ever go far in life with such manners even with their level of education. Although they might try to pretend in most cases but characters are what we can’t hide for a longer period. As a literate individual we should be able to present ourselves properly in good manners, carrying ourselves with self esteem and conducting excellent examples by proofing we went through levels of education which an illiterate did not go through, but revise is always the case.

Therefore, being a literate person does not guarantee a better person in us as humans. Many are using literacy to cover up while others are using it as a way to subdue those who did not get the opposite.

Literacy In Parenting:

The first step to learning I could say starts at home and from parents, and this is when an individual is just a toddler. This process helps children learn and gain some knowledge before proceeding to other learning levels. Parenting helps make learning easier for children especially with parents that also want to school 🏫 . I could say parents are the first steps to their children learning and most parents tries as much to impact in their children how being a better human being is the best choice to life, but it does not mean that children from illiterate parents will not behave well most often.

However, I have come across neighbors who are illiterates but behave well better then those who acquired lots of levels of education. This shows that literacy does not guarantee a better human who should always reasons and understand things differently because of exposure. Humanity most times are feelings we grow inside of ourselves which we carry along while living our lifestyles on earth 🌎. The problem most times are how man lacks conscience but very selfish.
