Holidays are days everyone of us anticipates so much , especially most of us that works for others because they are the days we take break from work and schooling to either rest properly with our loved πŸ₯° once or take the time to visit other families, go to the park πŸŒ³πŸŽ‹, the beach πŸ– and zoos πŸ¦’πŸ¦œ. Holidays are indeed days of good memories we enjoy.

Here in Nigeria πŸ‡³πŸ‡¬ my country I can say we do have quite some numbers of holidays which I see as not too much and not too little when calculated how it fills in into the 12 calendar πŸ“† month in a year.

Jan 1st - The first holiday in the year is that of β€œThe New Year Day holiday”: This very holiday is marked to celebrate the first Day of a new year in the new calendar πŸ—“. And to my best knowledge, this holiday is one marked all around the world 🌍 to usher a new year.

1st May - Workers Day: This very holiday is one marked in my country to specially recognize and celebrate all the workers. This holiday usually are just meant for workers and not a strong one for others since businesses use the advantage to want sell for those who might want to go shopping πŸ›.

June 12 - Democracy Day: This a holiday that is marked to honor a highly recognized Philanthropist M.K.O. Abiola, who was denied a mandate after he won an election πŸ—³ everyone new about. But instead of the military to hand over to him, they connived and threw him into the prison where he fall ill 😷 and died. A sad story of how politics has been dirty from years.

October 1st - Independence Day: This is a day that signifies and reminds us Nigerians of when our forefathers got freedom from the hands of the foreigners called the colonial masters. This very holiday is well known too to many other countries who went through colonialism.

December 25th - Christmas Day Holiday Celebration πŸŽ‰ πŸŽ…πŸŽ„. This is one big holiday celebration all around the world 🌍 and the most anticipated if am not mistaken. A holiday set aside to celebrate the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ, the son of God. This is a very big day that many families see as one opportunity to reunite together after working through the year. Among all the yearly holidays, December 25th holiday season is the most top notch πŸŽ‰πŸŽ…πŸŽ„β€οΈ.

December 26th - Boxes πŸ“¦ Day Or Boxing πŸ₯Š Day. Haha πŸ˜†. Many use think πŸ’ and see this day as a day for boxing one another, but growing up I have an aunt who explained this boxes πŸ“¦ day to my siblings and I because she has travelled internationally. December 26th holiday which extends the Christmas πŸŽ… holiday is a day for given gifts 🎁 to loved πŸ₯° ones, family, friends and even neighbors. Many also use this day to open up all the boxes πŸ“¦ of gifts gathered under the Christmas πŸŽ… tree 🌲 to know d what they received as Christmas gifts and from who.

Its so good this day is just immediately after December 25th. It made the celebration πŸŽ‰ so relaxing because many use the opportunity to travel out of the city πŸŒ† to the country side especially if this day falls on a Friday after Christmas πŸŽ….

However, there are other holidays celebrated in my country but the above mentioned are the most holidays that has fixed dates and well established because holidays for the muslim celebrations are not fixed which can fall into any date during the year. The Easter 🐣 holidays are also not fixed which are usually the Good Friday and Easter Monday.

Are the holidays too much, are they enough? Do we need more holidays since everyone loves holidays? I feel many people will want more holidays in Nigeria πŸ‡³πŸ‡¬ if they are paid well in the areas of their jobs. Many of these holidays also make people spend more money πŸ’° due to how everyone loves celebrations even though they don’t earn enough. People will definitely spend once there is a holiday especially on food πŸ₯˜.

And since there is no work balance in regulations in my country, people will want to enjoy more time not working which is a way to boost health and help make up for work balance, but who will pay πŸ’° the bill? The economy has continued to even suffer without work balance. The Government hardly pay incentives and business owners will not pay any extra money to anyone because of holidays. So the case is on survival of the fittest. Everyone is working to get paid because you need money to survive. Many other countries where work balance is situated make their citizens to enjoy every bit of work life and holidays.

In conclusion, only the rich πŸ€‘ enjoys the country here in Nigeria πŸ‡³πŸ‡¬ as they go for vacation from time to time caring not about the economy suffering.

This is my response to the #hiveleaners featured content for week 184, edition 02, tagged β€œHOLIDAY SEASON”.
