Healthy Steamed Spinach And Onions 🍲

Today I bring you a recipe of healthy steamed spinach and onions for a quick lunch 🥗. Spinach is what we can prepare as soup 🍲, sauce or the need for a side dish. This recipe is simple, flavorful and compliments a range of main dishes .

The idea for this recipe is how more healthy steamed spinach is than frying them with oil or margarine as steamed foods turns out to be low in calories and helps us cut down consumption of fatty foods.

And since I love onions so much for its flavors I chose to include a good amount of onions, cut in medium strips so you can really taste their sweetness. We can enjoy this steamed spinach alone, with porridge beans, spaghetti, white rice or boiled potatoes like I have . It taste so delicious and amazing.

Here are the process for this recipe with step by step.

INGREDIENTS:

A bunch of fresh spinach
1/2 of a big white onions
1 red cherry tomatoes
2 yellow flavor peppers
1 teaspoon of margarine
1/2 teaspoon of curry
1/2 teaspoon of thyme herb 🌿
1/4 teaspoon of salt

STEPS FOR PREPARATION:

Step 1.

We will start the recipe by first plucking the spinach off the stems.

Then we wash it thoroughly and leave in a basket to drain.

Step 2.

Next we slice the spinach in medium chunks to have it readily.

Here we pour some warm water into the spinach to release off some smells from it. And drain it almost immediately.

Step 4.

We wash and slice the onions, tomatoes and the yellow peppers.

Step 5.

To steam the spinach, we place a pan on the cooker , add some water to boil.

And once the water boils, we add the spinach and stir.

Step 6.

Allow to steam for 10 seconds, then add the onions, tomatoes and pepper. Stir to incorporate together.

Step 7.

Here we will finally add the spice and margarine.

Stir and lover heat to set it down.
