Health care sector which the doctors represent is one huge governmental establishment that should be well valued in every country, especially by the government since it deals with health of persons.

Doctors going on strike is not a good experience to both admitted patients and outdoor patients . The worst being those that fails under emergency 🚨, whose lives cases needs an urgent attention by the doctors concerned..

Doctors do not just go on a strike without given prior notice or warning to the government. And who will want to blame the doctors for the actions they will take by going on strike if after a given time to the government elapses without any agreement reached . And many times this warning might be for an increase in salary, demand for a better work environment or the need to change some obsolete equipments that is not properly functional. These are the demands I have hard of that made doctors to give warning of strike to the concerned authorities.

And talking of strike generally . All governmental sectors in my country goes on strike if after warning and demand is not met . I have severally participated in a strike action under the Labor mandate for increase in salary when I was working 8:00 to 5:00. Before this strike takes off, the Labour Leader and his subordinates who represents the worker will give warning, seat for negotiation and whereby the is no concrete agreement reached, the workers will seat at home until the government responds. It also includes University Lectures, Teachers at primary and secondary school levels, and even those called the oil marketers .These happen from time to time but might not be so serious like the health sectors.

Doctors warning and demanding to go strike is one big risk in a country due to how it will definitely lead to endangering lives of patients. Doctors going on strike is a very big concern which the government should not even allow to happen. I see doctors as those God has called for the sack of lives of humans. Therefore, the government should not in any way jeopardize the labor they give to man kind. The health sector is one very important establishment that the government should have great focus despite whatever a country is going through.

But it appears that the government at this stage do not care about the lives and well-being of the people known as the citizens. Instead they are concerned and focused on how to enrich themselves with what belongs to the country, making it their priority. The lack of appropriate and adequate necessary equipments in hospitals has caused the doctors a lot. They are mostly unmotivated at all times to attend to patients properly, making them ineffective and functional. I visited the general hospital of recent with my younger daughter to get the services of an ENT Specialist due to some vagus naive symptoms. In fact we could not return to the hospital for the appointment the doctor in charge gave us because the environment was scary. Lacks a proper set up and looks very unkept that my daughter insisted we use a private hospital despite the huge charge .

I keep imagining how these doctors are keeping up with to pay their bills as many of them are earning peanut as salaries. The underpayment has also caused many to dabble into taking bribe from sick patients who are managing to pay hospital bills and drugs . Those who choose to go through this route also overwork themselves as many will go on call to other hospitals to attend to their patients there. And those who are lucky travel out of the country for greener pasture.

Its very bad to see a doctor who is a professional collecting bribe because of poor salary while those in the government offices are sharing money and carrying home big envelopes. These are situations that leads to call for strikes which eventually will affect the citizens and many l will loose their lives. Its the duty of the government to take this health sector serious by paying meaningful salaries to these qualified doctors, provide a good woking environment with proper needed equipment to motivate these doctors who gives extra to the general public m. They deserved more than they are getting, and with these in place, there will never be a thought 💭 for strike. The government needs to do more to this sector.
