Walking in Amersfoort
Today i went on a shopping trip with 3 women.
and yes i still have some money left in my pocket.
My daughter and grand daughter came to pick us up and drove us to the city center of Amersfoort . I will post some links to google maps , so that you can explore parts of the city on your own.
after +/- 300 meters from the parking i spotted this shop "Pretty in pink "
So for those of you that are still looking for subjects to participate in the
Pink Essay 2025 contest , go to Amersfoort and find the shop .

I noticed that there was a lot of old architecture preserved in the city .
and i will definitly go back with my main camera .
It was not to crowdy today probably because of the weather forecast , also a lot of shopunits were empty and had for rent signs on them .
People buy more online these days , and shop rent in top locations is hard to earn back .
old city entrance Kamperbinnenpoort Gate https://maps.app.goo.gl/jQ5G6peQVumfsKEy6
the lower building seems to be used as public toilet https://maps.app.goo.gl/UbBzKojq5ibtUabT9
so far no rain but for how long ....
This was next to a fountain in the center of the square. it says "Vrienden van Stadsherstel 1996 " translates in Friends of City rebuilding 1996
The fountain in the square a face just above the water line and water coming out of its mouth.
A place for tourist to book roundtrip through the city either by "train "or canal boat, and since it's the birthplace of Pieter Mondriaan they decorated the seat outside in Monriaan style.
one of the canals and the touristguide boats , something to do on another day with better weather and a real camera and not my smartphone .
We started to walk in opposit direction towards the Mondriaan house
Still a lot of old house along the canal , reminds a bit of my old home town Amsterdam , only these canals are a lot smaller and narower.
A quick look at the direction we came from , and still no rain so we kept walking .
In front of the Mondriaan house you find this monument more info on the official website Mondriaan monument
And as we mover onward i spotted another very old building on the other side of the canal near the bridge .
Groot Tinnenburg https://maps.app.goo.gl/yLJkYxgXzNNcSXLz9
Another street with a lot of old houses to visit another time when i got my new lens .
We had to start moving back to the car and get home before tthe rain starts to fall.
Really great to see all these preserved old buildings , if you would turn this image in to b/w and add some grain it could have been an image from 1905 .
unfortunitly not all the houses are that old ,some are of later age.
But a lot of the old house still remain , and are probably renovated but the outside still looks authentic .
Although some streets are to narrow for a car , and you just have to use a bicycle instead or walk .
and the last one for today is this old house , it still had some original glas windows , single glas windows handmade and imperfect .
Probably the old house of some noble man , they all had those high windows .
Well that was my tour in Amersfoort for today and this is where you find that last house on google maps : https://maps.app.goo.gl/H8vXwibGoP59rweGA

wow, that looks like such a gorgeous place, especially with all of that history!
If on;y those walls could talk eh!
if those walls could talk i would need noise cancelation for sure 😂😂😜😜
Haaa yes, and I would imagine, many screams of bloody murder from different eras and genders too.
Wow, I love this place. But I understand that I will never be able to visit this place.
if you are currently in Russia then it might be a bit hard to get here indeed
Nice photos. Nice to see your walk through Amersfoort. Maybe I spotted you. Just kidding - but I was there last Saturday. I am yet to write about it. My view was quite different though as I took a canal boat.
no this was Tuesday , but il return there for more street photography and probably without my wife daughter and granddaughter . that way i have more time for the camera to focus on .
I can imagine that you want to return - it is a nice town. I have been there several times to restaurants/parties but never had a chance to really explore.
