trying some macro on the balcony

So before i go out in to the forrest again for my macro i decided to test my stability on the baclony, there is always something to find nearby .

My stability is not completely what it was before the surgery, but i managed to get some decent photos .

For these macros i used the Sony A7IV + Laowa Venus 25mm f/2.8 2.5-5x Ultra Macro with 2.5 - 5x magnification + Godox V1s

1 ) the first thing i spotted on the balcony was a Tipulidae / crane fly hanging on the otherside of my chickenwire. The chicken wire is there to keep the cat on the balcony and so far it works .

2 ) but now i need to to find a position to photograph the crane fly and get al things in focus ..

3 ) easier said then done at 2.5 magnification the DOF is really narrow.

4 )almost ....

5 ) there we go , a decent portraid

6 ) Mint flowers white

7 ) Mint flowers purple , chocolate flavour

8 ) a baby spider in a web

9 ) it is trying to run away from me and my flash light

10 ) running for cover in a plant

11 ) it looks like a it is a baby cross spider

12 )Food for this evening Macaroni Normal

13 ) Macaroni glutten free , we use two types since my wife is alergic to glutten .

that is is for today , hope to be back soon with more photography .

have a great week !

Nice captures Mick. I got some drone captures yesterday. I think I might need to get some new filters though.

i have no experience with that but i can imagine you might need some ND filters with that

As @stresskiller said the NDs are super important with them. It's something I was considering doing with my drone for a while but it is now a bit outdated and there's not much point in buying anything for it.

The NDs will really open up some of the landscapes you're in, especially on those really bright days where it's easy to have things blown out.

Thanks, will check it out. Want to get the best landscape shots possible.

The sight of this amazing spider is a symbol of captivating beauty. These special micro photographs create a spectacular beauty. The nature of the grass and the sight of this amazing creature are immersed in the wonderful natural beauty. Thank you very much for sharing this amazing photograph with us. These special pictures look a lot like a grasshopper up close.

Some genuinely horrifying levels of detail on that fly despite the difficulty of composing the shot

yeah , that laowa lens shows you things you can't even imagine sometimes , and i know that with use of focus stacking it could be even better but that would require use of tripod and stacking rail and probably a dead insect .

I've been thinking about getting a tripod at some point myself as I've found some reasons to get one. For the time being I just slap the camera on the gimbal I have and lock the motors. Does a decent job for the most part

most of time i only use the tripod for timelapse , or holding a reflection screen to bounce the light

That is the level of macro shots that I wanted as well.
You rock Mick.
well with that kind of magnification, I think i would not really be able to stabilize myself well as well.
