(Edited)

Today i went to get my new paspoort / passport , that was the only thing missing from my checklist to be able to go to HiveSummitAachen from August 22nd till August 24th .

you can find all info here : https://hive-summit.com/#about

I already payed for my ticket and already booked a hotel 5 minutes walk from the event , and today i collected my new pasport and after that we took a short citywalk with the new camera .

Images of the new camera :

I will bring my camera's to Aachen to take photos of both the event and the city . I wonder who else will be there , let me know in the comments if you have made up your mind already on joining the event or not .

Time to share some photos of Amersfoort from this morning .

All following images are taken by me with the Sony A7IV + Sony 24-105mm F4 G OSS .

1 ) Leaving cityhall where we collected our new Passports .

2 ) The weather looks nice people sitting outside in the sun .

3 ) Modern appartmets buid with an old look of old city towers .

4 ) Typical old Dutch buildings in the main shopping street

5 ) Big old tower , still need to get a closer look one day https://maps.app.goo.gl/D6DsQrtcRZG77eJU6 but the weather turned bad today .

6 ) No cars allowed , found that out the hard way ... € 129 .- fine for picking up my wife some weeks ago .

7 ) Memorial stone of an old church , it gives you an idea how old this city is .

8 ) a small shopping street where the wife needed to get some things ...

9 ) yup , that is what you get if you give them a sewing machine as a birthday gift ,

10 ) now she has to look for new materials to use on it

11 ) plenty of places where you can eat

12 ) a small city garden with a Paulownia Tomentosa ?

13 ) an old building from the 1950 i guess with an Italian restaurant in it .

14 ) a red climbing rose in the middle of the street

That reminds me of the Red Photo Essay contest that is still running until August 1st 2025 you can find all the info here :

https://ecency.com/hive-14396/@hive-14396/photo-essay-red-contest

15 ) Rainbow flag , it's good that people can express themselves this way.

16 ) narrow street too small for 2 bicycles passing eachother , then again some people might not fit either 😜

17 ) more old buildings , and more rain coming down

18 ) another red climbing rose

19 ) small square with boulders and planting containers

20 ) you can see the rain in the canal

21 ) portrait of an undertaker ? time to move because the rain keeps comming and althought the camera and lens are weather sealed ... i'm not today 😂😂

Thank you for watching hope you liked the small citywalk tour , and i hope to meet you in Aachen between August 22nd and August 24th 2025 .

How manny people have signed up so far Mr @detlev ?

Greetings, and very best wishes.
The selection of images today seems excellent to me, I really like the images 5, 10, 11 and 19.
I think the black and white shot 5 would be great, as would the button selection with the Singer machine in the background.
I really enjoyed looking at the photos of the post.

I always though the Sony bodies weren't as well weather sealed as the competition from Canon and Nikon. Just be careful with it! Last thing you want is a malfunctioning camera!

Europe is so vastly different from Australia. We don't have the cobblestone streets. I wish we banned cars on more roads and laneways, and I wish we had thread stores like the one featured in your photo.

It is clear these sorts of spaces are built for community, and interaction, as opposed to get in car, go to place, get out of car, get back in car.

You see so much more of the city and your environment in places like this. It makes me loathe the cookie-cutter developments that pop up everywhere here, with no "livability", yet somehow, Australian cities "top" livability scores - or... perhaps it is just propaganda.

Perhaps one day, I will make it to an International Hive meet, but it won't be this next one.

this old inner city was build for trade by boat on the canals but indeed when you are forced to go on foot or bicycle you see so much more of the surroundings. there is also a hive fest planned in Kuala Lumpur that might be a little closer to home for you then Aachen .

Yes, I'm aware of that one, unfortunately funds do not allow travel at the moment, I am out of work currently, and am looking for new opportunities, after a retrenchment following 13 years at the same business. I'm grateful for the break, but I'd like to get back on the so called bike sooner or later. :)

I'm treating the space between jobs as a career break, and using the free time to write an anthology of speculative fiction, and spill all my guts out on Hive! :)

a break is nice , indeed as long as one has backup finance .

Yes, my wife is working full time, and I am getting the odd photography gig here and there, but for the most part, I am definitely enjoying the (frugal) time off :)
