Cuban farmers

Hello friends from the Black and White community, this is my first time here and one of my first publications on Ecency. Today I have decided to share these black and white photographs taken by me so that, in the opinion of the community, I can receive advice and feedback about my work.

The Cuban black and white photography has the ability to stop time and reveal what often goes unnoticed. In this image, taken in Viñales, the protagonist is not only a farmer, but an entire story drawn through his hands, his gaze, and every element surrounding him. The absence of color allows us to focus on textures: the skin marked by the passing of years, the guano hat, the working tool, and the simplicity of a life connected to the land. Black and white transforms an everyday scene into a portrait of memory, identity, and resilience.

Capturing Cuban farmers is also capturing an essential part of our culture. This photograph shows a moment of conversation, exchange, and humanity. Beyond the landscape of Viñales, there is an invisible richness: the wisdom of those who understand the cycles of nature, the value of daily effort, and the traditions passed down from generation to generation. Documentary black and white photography allows us to approach this essence without distractions, making every gesture carry a deeper meaning.

The Cuban countryside holds stories that deserve to be told. In this image, the tranquility of the surroundings and the presence of the farmer create a scene where it seems that time moves slower. Black and white photography is not only an aesthetic choice; it is also a way to honor memory, connect the present with the past, and show the beauty of authenticity. Viñales, with its landscapes and its people, continues to be a place where traditions, crafts, and ways of life survive as part of the soul of Cuba.
