When you start to realize this, it's actually quite sad...... as a society we never learn, we keep making the same mistakes over and over again!π

That's very true, my friend, immensely, and I'd say that's very much by design! πππβ¨π€
I very much agree with you my friend.......π
That's why it's so important to research outside of the echo chamber, and to share and reconcile what we find with others who are doing the same. πππβ¨π€
Very true my friend, in the Pacific Northwest there are many homesteaders completely off grid in the mountains!π
I love that! I will never live connected to the grid again! It's similar here in Lower Puna, as most of the people in this area are also off-grid! πππβ¨π€
It has responsibilities but it is very freeing my friend!!ππ
Right now we were under a high wind warning, it's nice to know we have electricity off grid!!
Oh, indeed, that's very true, but they are well worth it, and it sure is! I know that is very satisfying, my friend! πππβ¨π€
It is definitely very satisfying, knowing we have back up electricity with the rain and wind pounding outside at this moment!πππ
Brilliant, my friend! How do you guys get internet? πππβ¨π€
Starlink my friend, we have had download speeds of 450 Mbps ππ
Very nice, and that's exactly what I was figuring! We have a very custom system that uses a dual broadband router that connects to mobile networks, and it's on T-Mobile as of late, which has thankfully worked pretty well. I've been strongly considering getting Starlink just for me, however...hehe. πππβ¨π€
Itβs still a bit on the pricey sideβ¦.$120 a month π
We had just reached the point where is Ziply fiber was dropping out four or five times a day?
And it isnβt even fiberβ¦. They just doubled up the thin copper phone lines that run to each house. speeds were 20 to 21 Mbps on a good dayβ¦
Much, much less on a bad day.
We had to cross our fingers every day we posted, hoping that we didnβt lose Internet until we were finished Lol!
Ah, indeed, that is still quite expensive on a monthly basis! I definitely understand that, as I've experienced multiple iterations of abysmal internet. Even though our present internet service is not as good as Starlink, it's still far better, both in speed and bandwidth, and in stability, though I still dream of having Starlink some day. πππβ¨π€
We were kind of stuck between bad.... and worse Lol!
Starlink filled the bill!!πππ
Starlink is pretty much the best internet on the planet at the moment! Everyone with whom I've spoken has told me that Starlink works great, and that they love it! πππβ¨π€
With communication between satellites with lasers, in the ability to download to a ground station at any point on earth with low latency it's hard to top that!!
Now add the fact that we are solar powered on our end, so we are not dependent on the grid, it makes a very reliable combination!!ππ
I didn't know that they utilized lasers! That would definitely speed things up! That's badass, my friend, you've got a great setup! πππβ¨π€
It is very interesting...... from what I've read the original generation satellites did not have the lasers.
But the newer generation incorporates laser to laser communication, and as the old satellites gradually burn up back re-entering the atmosphere, his new constellation will all be laser to laser communication!ππ
Oh, that's very cool, so he's been upgrading his technology, so the network speed and bandwidth should keep getting better! πππβ¨π€
He has quite an amazing technology, I am so thankful that we are past power outages !ππ€π
I can't wait to get Starlink soon. I definitely feel you on that, my friend, that is a wonderful thing indeed! πππβ¨π€
You will be very happy with Starlink, my friend!ππ
Heavy rains, wind, the Internet has never gone down!π
