Who would have thought that lettuce would make so many people sick!😳
Eating healthy, goes hand in hand with a good daily exercise routine!😇

• Cyclospora cayetanensis I have a hard time spelling the name of this parasite, not alone, trying to figure out how to pronounce it correctly Lol!🤣
  I checked with CHAT GPT to find out how this spread so quickly, and how it can be prevented in the future………….

The most likely ways lettuce becomes contaminated are:

• Contaminated irrigation water used in the fields.
• Water used during washing or processing if it contains the parasite.
• Poor sanitation from infected workers, although this is considered less likely for Cyclospora.
• Contaminated soil or runoff, especially if human sewage gets into water sources.

One thing that makes Cyclospora difficult is that ordinary washing, even with chlorine, doesn’t reliably kill it. That’s why pre-washed bagged lettuce can still carry the parasite if contamination occurred earlier in the process!”

AI also said that one of the best ways to be safe is to buy a whole head of lettuce and avoid shredded lettuce!😇
Liz tossed several bags of unopened, shredded lettuce into the garbage, just to be safe!

We discovered that most large meat packers will use bleach to sanitize poultry that has been mechanically separated…………
Chicken from the Green Barn is growth hormone, and bleach free, from small local farms!😇
AI went on to say that we should watch for any future recalls, because preventing future parasite infections can be difficult to impossible!🙄
