Hungry For More

I had a great weekend! Started off Friday evening with some pickleball and the group picture above was taken after the session was over. Then I go to watch the All star match at the Panas Cup. I had a VVIP seating thanks to a friend who sponsored the tournament; I was able to watch for free! I got to see Quang Duong play live and it was an interesting experience. I was able to see the gap between where I am now with one of the best out there. His technique and footwork was so clean and that's probably where I need to work on to step up my game. My friend and I left a bit early though and then I ended up having the urge to play. I somehow ended up playing 6 hours of pickleball that day after watching the all star match. I ended Sunday resting and chilling so I had a pretty good weekend I think. Anyways today, I want to give my opinion on greed and selfishness.

I think greed and selfishness is part of life. People may see this more related to physical things but I feel it's more of a mental thing where in some cases it can be good and in some cases it can be bad. I feel it's more mental because it's more dependent on how a person is thinking which causes what we see as greed or selfishness. By all means, greed and selfishness can be good in situations like thirst for more knowledge or focusing on self improvement. I don't think it's a bad thing if someone is being greedy to want to keep on learning and improving themself. Another example can be cases where someone doesn't want to go out and hang out with their friends because they want to just relax and stay at home. Some people may see this as being selfish but others may not because people need their "me" time.

With a good side, there's always a bad side (in most cases). Greed and selfishness can also end up being bad. Some people get too greedy and misuse their power. They can also lose their ability to think clearly especially when gambling. Some people will be greedy to win the jackpot and keep playing until they lose all their money and end up on the streets etc. I've also experienced this in crypto when I was first starting out.

In the early days of the web3 gaming boom, I had $10k USD worth of airdrop handed to me and it was a lot of money. If I had the knowledge I had now, I would've sold back then but back then I was greedy and wanted the value to increase even more. Little did I know how fast the market would crash and I ended up cashing it out for around 2-3k I don't remember. It's significantly less than what I could've cashed out and it was because I was greedy. Even in the past, I was a bit selfish when I was growing up. I always had to share with my brother but I didn't like it when I was a kid. For example, I ended up playing more playtime on the laptop than he did and this is just one case of many. Looking back now, it was silly and I'm way past that. I feel that I've become more selfless than selfish as I grew up. As for the greed though, it's something that I still feel in me and it's always a mental fight. Whether it be for the good or bad cases, it's something that I hope to have better control over as I age.

When it comes to being greedy and selfish, I think it is only one way. You are greedy or selfish. It is what it is. There is nothing like badly good, lol. Although that’s the picture we try to paint these days.

When it comes to something that affects us positively, it’s not greedy unless it is at the expense of someone else in a way. So, do what you need to do to keep growing, just don’t be only concerned about yourself all the time.

Hmmm interesting thought. Instead of having them together you are treating it as different things which isn't wrong (if I understood what you said, correct me if I'm wrong). I think there are ways it also overlaps; it really depends on the context! It also depends on perspective too. Everyone has different opinions so something one person might see as selfish/greedy might not be to somebody else and vice versa (think like abortion for example) is it selfish to have a baby at 14-16 or to abort it because the girl shouldn't have to have a kid so young. It's hard to say sometimes in these situations and of course there's just so many factors that have to be considered in those situations like financial and stuff; I don't think there's a right answer?

What do you consider positive haha. If you are gambling and you won a ton of money wouldnt this affect your life positively? For example, someone already won like $100k (this is big money a bit life changing) but then they double down and lose it all wouldn't that be greedy? (of course this is a bit extreme scenario but just to help make my point)

So, do what you need to do to keep growing, just don’t be only concerned about yourself all the time.

For sure, there's only so much one can keep growing by themselves. There's things to be learned from others as well.

You’ve asked really good questions but what I’ll say is, we know what is right. When you are in any of these situations that seem controversial or technical, no matter how you feel everyone is right in their own opinion, always keep it in mind that you might be wrong too. Whether or not we have our opinions about different things, that won’t change the truth from being the truth and that is why we learn everyday.

It’s fine to make mistakes especially when it comes to making decisions but we should always be humble enough to accept it if we made a wrong choice and learn how to do things better.

I really appreciate your words about Greed and selflness! Also the way you mentioned it could be useful to make a positive impacts.
Actually that's a way to portray your Greedyness towards your goals with full dedication overall 100% selflness only for good deeds, rather than wasting your energy in making someone feel bad.(who actually doesn't matter at the end) somehow !

Be Humble,
