Manchester United’s Transfer Challenge.
When I look at Manchester United’s transfer situation right now, I see a club facing a real test of patience and clear-headed decision-making. The problem is not just who should leave or stay, the real challenge is how they can actually move players on, especially when some do not want to accept lower wages.
To me this is the single most difficult issue facing the club this summer.

Manchester United’s manager Amorim has said he can handle a smaller squad because the team has no European games next season which sounds reasonable. There will be fewer matches so the squad can shrink, but to actually get to that point, the club has to find a way to move players that either do not fit or are too expensive.
Players the manager clearly does not want, players who have not performed well, and players who could be sold if the price is right.
The big sticking point is money.
Sancho is the best example. Chelsea wanted him but only if he accepted a pay cut, and he said no and now the club is stuck. Most clubs cannot or will not pay what he earns. If he stays, he costs a lot and does not fit into Amorim’s plans. If they pay him to leave, the club loses money and risks making a rival stronger. This is a problem not only with Sancho but also with others.
