31 May 2026,daily writing prompt:no value for money!

Rashed had been dreaming of an expensive wristwatch for many years. He thought that if he had that prestigious brand watch on his wrist, everyone in society would respect him. After working four months of overtime and saving on his pocket money, he finally bought that shiny watch for almost one lakh taka.

For the first few days after wearing the watch, he had a great time. But soon he faced the reality: unnecessary fear; while commuting by bus or on the road, he was always afraid that someone might snatch the watch or leave a mark on it! Indifference of people; he thought everyone would gape at the watch, but in reality, no one in the office even noticed it. The real failure came when, one day, while on his way to a job interview, the watch's battery suddenly stopped. As a result, he couldn't arrive on time and missed out on the job. That night, Rashed looked at the watch and understood that something that takes away peace of mind and doesn't tell the right time when needed, no matter how expensive it is, actually holds no value for money.

The next day, he sold the watch for half the price. With that money, he bought a skill development course and started wearing a simple, inexpensive watch. A year later, when Rashed joined a large organization in a high position due to his new skills, he didn't have an expensive watch on his wrist, but the value of every moment he experienced was priceless.
