"Different kinds of intelligence" generally refer to specific skills or perspectives that lie outside conventional or traditional intelligence. Simply put, we usually consider those who excel in mathematics or can retain a lot of information as intelligent. However, according to modern psychology, intelligence is not just one kind.

The city was one of iron and machinery. Everyone there operated on measurements and logic. The assessment of intelligence was based on how quickly one could calculate and how precisely one could design. In that city, there was a young man whom everyone regarded as a bit 'foolish.' He could not solve complex equations, nor could he conceptualize building designs. His room was situated in a corner of the city, where he spent his days doing strange tasks.

Whenever someone sat by the roadside feeling gloomy, he would quietly sit next to them. He wouldn’t offer any advice or present any arguments. Just his presence would lighten the heavy stone lodged in the person’s heart. He could read the language of people's eyes, a skill that even the city's renowned scientists lacked.

One day, a terrible crisis struck the city. For some unknown reason, everyone became distrustful of one another. Friends stopped speaking to friends, and brothers became enemies. The city's authorities could find no solution to this problem using logic or mathematics because the issue lay not with machinery but with the mind.

At that moment, the young man stepped forward. He didn’t give a speech. He simply stood in the middle of the city and began to hum an old tune. The tune had no words, only a strange enchantment. He would visit each home and remind them of a cherished memory—sometimes with a dried flower, other times with just a compassionate smile.

Gradually, the anger and hatred within the people of the city began to diminish. They embraced one another once again. The scientists were astonished to see that the complex problem they could not solve with countless formulas was effortlessly resolved by that young man.

That day, everyone realized that intelligence is not just about thinking hard to solve complex puzzles. It also encompasses the ability to feel another's sorrow as one's own, to understand the language of the heart, and to save someone teetering on the edge by simply being there for them. This is a distinct form of higher intelligence, which we call emotional intelligence.
