The shoehorn sign and modern art at home

I'm going to tell you the story of my shoehorn.
It's a true story, even if some of my interpretations are completely subjective and circumstantial.
It's a very simple shoehorn (or so I thought) made of white-lacquered metal, thin, light, sturdy, practical—everything you could ask for in this type of object.
To put it into context, I lived with my partner and her daughter, and everything was going well, including the shoehorn.
I used it every day, and one morning, when I reached for it, I noticed it was bent.
I was very surprised because I'd had it for many years and had never seen any signs of weakness. How can a shoehorn be so bent? I ask my partner and her daughter, who also use it. They also seem surprised and assure me it's not their fault. I still have some doubts, but what's the point of going any further?
I straighten it out as best I can, and it returns to a correct, or at least functional, shape.
I haven't seen any signs, and that's probably a mistake.
I think we don't pay enough attention to certain signs transmitted to us by our environment.

Before going any further into the story of my shoehorn, I must introduce a French expression: "trouver chaussure à son pied" (find the shoe that fits your foot), which in the context of romantic relationships means "to find your soulmate," "to find the right person," or simply "to find your love."

My story may be starting to make sense. This little object is a medium; it helps you put on your shoes more easily and smoothly, and it reduces resistance.
The fact that it twisted, seemingly all by itself and without anyone knowing why, takes on a metaphorical meaning that I overlooked.
Something was causing the relationship to no longer flow smoothly; there was resistance, the shoe no longer fit our feet so well, and the shoehorn wanted to let us know.

As no one seemed to notice this sign, a second incident occurred.
The already weakened shoehorn bent again, once again unbeknownst to anyone, and no one felt responsible.
It was destined to be thrown away, but I straightened it anyway, then put it away and replaced it with another, sturdy one, made of thick, non-deformable wood.
Shortly after, my partner and I separated, and when I found the bent shoehorn in a drawer, I didn't have the heart to throw it away.
On the contrary, I added it to my collection of modern art that decorates my apartment; it hangs on a wall. It's there to remind me of the fragility of a relationship and the importance of listening to the signs—not just the signs of a shoehorn, which are just projection or rationalization, but the emotional signs, the ones that have no words and that we tend to ignore.
And I kicked myself for not having heard or listened to these signs.

For the record, my ex-partner, who still comes to the house sometimes, doesn't like this wall decoration, unlike the rest of my artistic installation.

Je vais vous raconter l'histoire de mon chausse pieds.
C'est une histoire vraie même si certaines interprétations de ma part sont totalement subjectives et conjoncturelles.
C'est un chausse pieds tout simple (enfin je le croyais) en métal laqué de blanc, fin, léger, solide, pratique, tout ce qu'on demande pour ce type d'objet.
Pour replacer le contexte, j'habitais avec ma compagne et sa fille et tout se passait bien, y compris pour le chausse pieds.
Je l'utilisais tous les jours, et un beau matin, au moment de le prendre je constate qu'il est tordu.
Je suis très étonné car je l'ai depuis de nombreuses années et je n'ai jamais rencontré de signe de faiblesse, comment peut on tordre ainsi un chausse pied ?
J'interroge ma compagne et sa fille qui l'utilisent aussi, elles semblent elles aussi étonnées et m'assurent qu'elles n'y sont pour rien, j'ai quelques doutes quand même, mais à quoi bon aller plus loin ?
Je le redresse tant bien que mal et il reprend une forme correcte ou du moins fonctionnelle.
Je n'y ai vu aucun signe, et c'est probablement une erreur.
Je pense qu'on ne fait pas suffisamment attention à certains signes qui nous sont transmis par l'environnement.

Avant d'aller plus loin dans l'histoire de mon chausse pied, je dois introduire une expression Française "trouver chaussure à son pied" qui dans le contexte des relations amoureuses signifie "trouver son âme sœur", "trouver le bonne personne", ou simplement "trouver son amour".

Mon histoire commence peut être à faire sens, ce petit objet est un médium, il aide à mettre ses chaussures plus facilement, de manière fluide, il limite les résistances.
Le fait qu'il se soit tordu, tout seul semble-t-il et sans que personne ne sache pourquoi prend une signification métaphorique que j'ai négligé.
Quelque chose faisait que la relation n'était plus fluide, il y avait de la résistance, la chaussure n'allait plus si bien à nos pieds et le chausse pieds a voulu nous le signifier.

Comme on semblait ne pas prendre conscience de ce signe, un deuxième incident s'est produit.
Le chausse pied déjà fragilisé s'est de nouveau tordu, une fois de plus à l'insu de tout le monde, personne ne s'est senti responsable.
Il était bon à jeter, mais je l'ai redressé quand même, puis rangé et remplacé par un autre, solide, en bois épais, non déformable.
Peu de temps après nous nous sommes séparés avec ma compagne et quand j'ai retrouvé le chausse pieds tordu dans un tiroir, je n'ai pas eu le cœur de le jeter.
Au contraire, je j'ai ajouté à ma collection d'art moderne qui décore mon appartement, il est accroché sur un mur.
Il est là pour me rappeler la fragilité d'une relation et l'importance d'écouter les signes, pas seulement les signes d'un chausse pied, ce n'est que de la projection ou de la rationalisation, mais les signes émotionnels, ceux qui n'ont pas de mots et qu'on a tendance à ignorer.
Et je m'en suis voulu de ne pas avoir entendu ou écouté ces signes.

Pour la petite histoire, mon ex compagne qui vient encore quelque fois à la maison n'aime pas cette décoration murale, contrairement au reste de mon installation artistique.
