Alec Benjamin For Three Tunes 6

It's quite remarkable how easily we sleep on some artists simply due to our laziness and lack of interest in their works.
I've always known Alec Benjamin was a wonderful musician, his work on Eyes Blue Like The Atlantic introduced me to him, then his extremely blown up song Let Me Down Slowly made him a current citizen on my playlist.
Yet after that, my interest in his music died, until last week.

After updating my phone and my discord app (Lovely UI by the way but I wish I had my previous UX, might make a post about it later), I got a recommendation of one of his songs and just on a whim, I clicked and listened.

- If We Have Each Other

Of everything, this is one type of song that I didn't expect from him. It really blew me away.
The lyrics, story within it, simple tune and catchy chorus left me stunned.
I simply loved this song, and had no choice to check out the album.

The album was filled with other great songs too, yet only few that carried stories like this first one and this next one left me feeling emotional too.

- Boy in the Bubble

In this song we see a simple bass guitar riff as the main melody and him rapping to it was just soothing to hear.
He sings about his experiences being bullied and he gives us a possible perspective from the bullies point of view.
It's all those kind of food for thought songs that just leaves you with a calm expression and a hum in your thoughts.

- Steve

The Pre-Chorus and Chorus of this song is everything!!
Well maybe that and the symbolism, the creative idea of adding the persona of Steve in the creation story to stop Adam from eating the apple.
Alec wonders if himself and probably everyone else listened to the Steve in their stories.
That voice that urged them to stop and be content with what they have instead of aiming higher and destroying everything.
A song of caution, with a lovely strummed melodious tune.

This album is actually six years old and it just ad me wondering why I hadn't heard it before 😂.
