Palomita ✅️ o chek in, como desees... / Check in ✅️ or as you prefer... (ESP-ING)

Buen día dominguero amigos de #hive (@Wordmappin). Ausente varios días, por temas de salud pero volviendo a esta comunidad con una buena recomendación, ¡no te lo puedes perder!

Hace unos días (previo a enfermarme de una gripe) visité uno de los lugares que por varios años había atrapado mi interés. Sin embargo, por una u otra razón no había logrado llegar a ese excelente lugar.

La Habana Vieja siempre ha sido -a mis ojos- un lugar enigmático, donde a pesar de recorrer sus calles diariamente puedes redescubrir espacios, diseños, dibujos, historias y personas fascinantes.

Restaurante "La Dominica" ese es el lugar de La Habana Vieja del cual quiero comentarte hoy. Pero buenoooo, más que comentar que veas con tus propios ojos las maravillosas vistas y ofertas al paladar que puedes encontrar.

Este se ubica en calle O'Reilly #108 esquina Mercaderes. Te comparto la dirección y el link en el mapa, para que no te suceda como a mí. Por varios años vi en redes sociales referencia del lugar, sabía que era en el casco histórico de La Habana Vieja pero nunca daba con él ni por coincidencia en mis recorridos. Obviamente, olvidaba el nombre (por no anotarlo en papel o celular) lo cual podía ayudarme a localizarlo a través de Google, y dejé ese encuentro a las coincidencias. Coincidencia que solo fue efectiva en enero 2026, cuando en vez de recorrer Calle Obispo desde la Plaza de Armas, me adentré a Calle O'Reilly desde dicha plaza. En post anterior te comenté acerca del Café O'Reilly, pero nunca saber de la cercanía entre ambos lugares. Ese tramo de La Habana había estado fraccionado a mi, hasta que se alinearon las energías y mi espíritu curioso, llegó a La Dominica. De hecho, ya no olvido el nombre, la técnica ha sido recordar al país "República Dominicana" y de ahí deducir a "La Dominica".

Caminaba Calle O'Reilly hacia el Parque Central, desde la Plaza de Armas como te he comentado previamente. Iba con la cabeza baja, evadiendo los adoquines desajustados porque a mi entender: dañan zapatos que no sean tenis/zapatillas. Caminando, caminando, alcé la vista y allí estaba. ¿Me estaba esperando en el 2026? No sé 🤷‍♀️, pero llegué allí. Y dije: ¡Hay, vamos a degustar una lazaña! Me apetecía enormemente.

Al llegar al frente del establecimiento noté las mesas y sillas colocadas para quien desee sentarse allí y disfrutar al estilo parisino de la vida citadina. También hay un salón interior climatizado. Yo preferí las mesas de afuera, aunque te aconsejo que lleves protector solar untado o en el bolso, porque el astro rey va haciendo de sus travesuras entre los edificios colindantes.

Una vez sentada, pedí una limonada para refrescar y solicité a la dependienta la carta. A mi entender, las ofertas son variadas, a precios accesibles para como corren los tiempos, y la atención maravillosa. El pago puede hacerse en efectivo o transferencia, ¡bendita transferencia!

De la limonada, pasé a la tan deseada lazaña, una lazaña boloñesa. Ya verás en fotos que delicia 😋. (Veo las fotos y me apetece otra en este preciso momento)

Estuve cerca de unas 3 horas en La Dominica, disfrutaba mi limonada, la interacción de la ciudad turística y las delicias al paladar.

Esta primera quincena de enero ha sido maravillosa, porque tal cual es el título de este post: he hecho palomita ✅️ o chek in -como prefieras decir- a muchas cositas pendientes, y dentro de ellas: visita a "La Dominica", que si no estaba en la lista, estaba como pendiente en mi mente 😄.

Si deseas ir, te dejo dos recomendaciones basadas en mi experiencia:
👉Para caminar las calles adoquinadas usar zapatos planos, preferentemente tenis /zapatillas o bailarinas.
👉El mejor horario para disfrutar sin tener que estar moviendo las sillas y mesa producto al sol (y que espero explorar próximamente) sería la tarde noche.

Good Sunday, friends of #hive (@Wordmappin). I've been absent for several days due to health issues, but I'm back in this community with a great recommendation—you can't miss it!

A few days ago (before I caught the flu), I visited one of the places that had captivated me for years. However, for one reason or another, I hadn't managed to get to this excellent spot.

Old Havana has always been—in my eyes—an enigmatic place, where despite walking its streets daily, you can rediscover fascinating spaces, designs, artwork, stories, and people.

"La Dominica" Restaurant is the place in Old Havana I want to tell you about today. But more than tell you, I want you to see for yourself the wonderful views and culinary delights you can find there.

It's located at 108 O'Reilly Street, corner of Mercaderes Street. I'm sharing the address and the map link so you don't make the same mistake I did. For years, I saw references to the place on social media. I knew it was in the historic center of Old Havana, but I never found it, not even by chance. Obviously, I forgot the name (because I didn't write it down on paper or my phone), which could have helped me locate it through Google, and I left it to chance. That chance finally worked in January 2026, when instead of walking along Obispo Street from Plaza de Armas, I ventured onto O'Reilly Street from the plaza. In a previous post, I mentioned Café O'Reilly, but I never knew how close the two places were. That part of Havana had remained hidden from me until the stars aligned, and my curious spirit led me to La Dominica. In fact, I never forget the name anymore; the technique has been to remember the country, "Dominican Republic," and then deduce "La Dominica."

I was walking down O'Reilly Street towards Central Park, from Plaza de Armas, as I mentioned before. I was walking with my head down, carefully avoiding the uneven cobblestones because, in my opinion, they damage any shoes that aren't sneakers. Walking and walking, I looked up and there it was. Was it waiting for me in 2026? I don't know 🤷‍♀️, but I arrived. And I thought: Oh, let's go and try some lasagna! I really wanted some.

When I got to the front of the restaurant, I noticed the tables and chairs set up for anyone who wanted to sit there and enjoy Parisian-style city life. There's also an air-conditioned indoor dining area. I preferred the tables outside, although I recommend you bring sunscreen, either applied or in your bag, because the sun is playing tricks on you through the surrounding buildings.

Once seated, I ordered a refreshing lemonade and asked the waitress for the menu. In my opinion, the offerings are varied, the prices are reasonable considering the current economic climate, and the service is wonderful. Payment can be made in cash or by bank transfer—blessed bank transfer!

From the lemonade, I moved on to the much-desired lasagna, a Bolognese lasagna. You'll see in the photos what a delight it is 😋. (Looking at the photos makes me want another one right now!)

I spent about three hours at La Dominica, enjoying my lemonade, the atmosphere of the tourist town, and the delicious food.

This first two weeks of January have been wonderful because, just as the title of this post suggests, I've ticked off ✅️ or checked in—whichever you prefer—to many things on my to-do list, and among them was a visit to "La Dominica," which, if it wasn't on the list, was definitely on my mind 😄.

If you'd like to go, here are two recommendations based on my experience:

👉For walking on the cobblestone streets, wear flat shoes, preferably sneakers or ballet flats.

👉The best time to enjoy yourself without having to move the chairs and table due to the sun (which I hope to explore soon) would be late afternoon or evening.
