Escenas en rojo / Scenes in Red (ESP-ING)

Buen día, amiga/o de Hive (@Holos&Lotus). Espero que tú y tu familia se encuentren muy bien.

Hoy quiero compartir contigo un relato breve que escribí hace algún tiempo para el Concurso por la Eliminación de la Violencia contra las Mujeres, convocado por la Unión Europea en Cuba. La propuesta se titula "Escenas en rojo".

Se estructura en tres momentos donde el color rojo es el hilo conductor, ya sea de una mujer o de varias (queda a tu interpretación). Te pregunto: ¿te gusta el color rojo? 😉 Sin más, aquí está.

RELATO BREVE: Escenas en rojo

🎬 Escena 1: Píntate los labios

Frente al espejo, María se pregunta: ¿qué me pongo? Buscando su propia perfección, elige tres conjuntos, los coloca frente a sí y adopta una pose. Mentalmente recorre su agenda y decide: ¡este es!
María es una profesional empoderada, pero no siempre lo fue. Ha tenido que vencer el machismo instalado para ser más que musa o acompañante. Ahora es coach y escritora.
Es la historia de mujeres que frente al espejo replantean su vida y deciden salir del capullo -del hogar, el temor, la opresión- para ser cocreadoras de su mundo. La despierta la melodía de Eliades Ochoa cuando canta: "Píntate los labios, María, píntate...".
Vuelve al espejo. Debe pintarse los labios. Se lleva la mano a la barbilla y se imagina disertando ante mujeres refugiadas, sobrevivientes de violencia.
"Mírate, mujer -dirá-. Pregúntate: ¿qué vida quieres vivir? ¿Qué posición política asumir? Sé consciente: el mañana lo hacemos todos, no puede estar solo al servicio del mercado".
Como fondo, la canción insiste: "Píntate los labios, María, y que se deje de bobería...".
Ella cree en el poder de la palabra, en la historia personal para conectar. Tararea: "¡Mujer, déjate de boberías!".
Sus dedos buscan un labial en el cajón. ¿Qué color? Ella lo sabe. Elige el rojo. Es su derecho, como hace veinte años eligió ser voz contra la violencia.
Quien la conoce sabe que usará rojo. Como dijo Christian Dior (1949): ¡viste su sonrisa!.
Con labios rojos es una mujer poderosa que defiende derechos, que cree en sociedades equitativas. Es su ikigai.
Frente al espejo, sin antifaz, María se pinta los labios. Luego exclama: "¡Huella labial -color rojo- que nos define e ilumina!" y besa el cristal.

🎬 Escena 2: Zapatos

María balancea las caderas, camina erguida. "Ella camina con tacones rojos, ella te desafía con el brillo de sus ojos". Sus pasos son firmes, llenos de fuerza.
Hoy ejerce su voluntad con confianza. Lidera la ONG "Zapatos Rojos", un homenaje a sus antecesoras y al movimiento de mujeres. Es artífice en deconstruir la vulnerabilidad aprendida. Sabe que un bolero no salva, ni un zapato, pero en ellos encuentra poder e invita a cada mujer a hallar su propio éxito, su ikigai.
Su trabajo aporta a construir políticas con perspectiva de género. Transforma sombras en luces; siempre en tacones rojos. En cada oportunidad exclama: ¡En tacones rojos, aunque sea en casa! En ellos soy yo.
Busca nuevas formas de hacer y decir. Convida a otras a tomar decisiones, por pequeñas que sean, a salir de la zona de confort, a dejar de creerse incapaces. Ama la palabra sororidad.
¿Dónde están los tacones rojos?, se pregunta, bebiendo café. Mira el reloj. Faltan solo minutos para su conferencia.
¿Qué representan los zapatos? ¿El color que elegimos?. Serán sus preguntas iniciales.

🎬 Escena 3: Vestido

¡Este! ¡Este es el vestido de hoy!.
María está frente al espejo, vestida de rojo. Ve pasar la película de su vida. Aún no se pinta los labios. Tararea. Sabe que cuenta con las herramientas -lo jurídico, lo político, lo social- que dan sentido a su vida, y con la ONG que creó.
Voltea el rostro. En un rincón, ve el sillón de la abuela. Sus labios se pliegan, pero no surge una sonrisa. Es la mueca del recuerdo ambivalente.
Elige defender sus derechos. Dice "no" a la violencia, a la desigualdad. Toma el labial rojo, se pinta los labios y escribe en el espejo: Tú, tristeza. ¡Adiós!.
Sentada en el sillón, respira hondo. Inscribe el pasado en sus muñecas. Vestida de rojo, se hace eterna. Ya es feliz.

Today I want to share with you a short story I wrote some time ago for the Contest for the Elimination of Violence against Women, organized by the European Union in Cuba. The piece is titled "Scenes in Red."

It's structured in three parts where the color red is the common thread, whether it's one woman or several (it's up to your interpretation). I ask you: do you like the color red? 😉 Without further ado, here it is.

SHORT STORY: Scenes in Red

🎬 Scene 1: Put on Lipstick

In front of the mirror, María wonders: what should I wear? Seeking her own perfection, she chooses three outfits, places them in front of her, and strikes a pose. Mentally, she goes through her planner and decides: this is it!

María is an empowered professional, but she wasn't always like this. She has had to overcome ingrained sexism to be more than just a muse or an escort. Now she's a coach and writer.

It's the story of women who, standing in front of the mirror, rethink their lives and decide to emerge from their cocoons—from home, fear, oppression—to become co-creators of their world. She's awakened by the melody of Eliades Ochoa's song: "Paint your lips, Maria, paint your lips..."
She returns to the mirror. She must paint her lips. She places her hand on her chin and imagines herself speaking to refugee women, survivors of violence.

"Look at yourself, woman," she'll say. "Ask yourself: what kind of life do you want to live? What political stance do you want to take? Be aware: we all create tomorrow; it can't be solely at the service of the market."

In the background, the song insists: "Paint your lips, Maria, and stop the nonsense..."

She believes in the power of words, in personal stories to connect. She hums: "Woman, stop the nonsense!"

Her fingers search for a lipstick in the drawer. What color? She knows. She chooses red. It's her right, just as she chose to be a voice against violence twenty years ago.

Anyone who knows her knows she'll wear red. As Christian Dior said (1949): "Wear her smile!"

With red lips, she is a powerful woman who defends rights, who believes in equitable societies. It's her ikigai.

In front of the mirror, without a mask, María applies her lipstick. Then she exclaims: "Lip imprint—red color—that defines and illuminates us!" and kisses the glass.

🎬 Scene 2: Shoes

María sways her hips, walks upright. "She walks in red heels, she challenges you with the sparkle in her eyes." Her steps are firm, full of strength.

Today she exercises her will with confidence. She leads the NGO "Red Shoes," a tribute to her predecessors and the women's movement. She is a pioneer in deconstructing learned vulnerability. She knows that a bolero won't save you, nor will a shoe, but she finds power in them and invites every woman to find her own success, her ikigai.

Her work contributes to building policies with a gender perspective. She transforms shadows into light; always in red heels. At every opportunity, she exclaims: "In red heels, even if it's just at home! In them, I am myself."

She seeks new ways of doing and saying. She invites others to make decisions, however small, to step out of their comfort zone, to stop believing they are incapable. She loves the word sisterhood.

"Where are the red heels?" she wonders, sipping her coffee. She glances at the clock. There are only minutes left before her conference.

"What do shoes represent? The color we choose?" These will be her opening questions.

🎬 Scene 3: Dress

"This one! This is today's dress!"

María stands before the mirror, dressed in red. She watches the film of her life unfold. She hasn't put on her lipstick yet. She hums. She knows she has the tools—legal, political, and social—that give meaning to her life, and the NGO she created.
She turns her head. In a corner, she sees her grandmother's armchair. Her lips curl, but no smile emerges. It's the grimace of ambivalent memory.
She chooses to defend her rights. She says "no" to violence, to inequality. She takes the red lipstick, applies it, and writes on the mirror: You, sadness. Goodbye!

Sitting in the armchair, she takes a deep breath. She inscribes the past on her wrists. Dressed in red, she becomes eternal. She is happy now.
