RE: Sixty Five

Belated birthday wishes! I am currently 68, turning 69 toward the end of October. Sometime in the past 4 or 5 years I began to feel much older than I had previous to that. My knees now feel like they are 80 years old. My brain functions about like it did when I had a colicky newborn forty years ago, which means it didn't function then, either. I still WANT to do many things, but frequently find that I no longer have the capability or the energy. I catch myself saying I am old, but I have re-defined "old" as 80. So I guess I am no longer young, but not exactly old yet, either.

Thank you!
I guess that's what we do... redefine terms, as we go. I definitely don't feel "old," but I know that I'm aging because the recovery time after undertaking something strenuous is much longer than it used to be.
Around here, we have taking to referring to our stage in life as "olding."
That's a good word.
