This blog is a personal journal of all the movies, Tv-Shows, & Games I consume during a year which enhances my overall experience. The ratings that I give are fully based on my personal preference and enjoyment at the time of watching and I'm writing spoiler-free reviews. (All liquid earnings are used to get extra Hive Power Delegations!)

I have been on somewhat of a dry spell when it comes down to watching movie lately as I kind of finished catching up with 2025 movies and I had a cases of Tinitus for a while which made it near impossible to enjoy watching tv. This is more or less over now so I'm ready to resume. I will be traveling to Thailand for a couple months soon and I likely will use the cinema (which is super affordable there) to cool off and see all the movies that release. Once back, I will move onto working on clearing my backlog of older movies that I still want to watch.

Since Michael Jackson was a big part of my childhood, I had to see this movie even though I can't say I was overly excited about it. From the reviews, I pretty much knew exactly what to expect and it turned out like that. I went to see it along with my mom in the renewed Parthé cinema. They upgraded their chairs as cinemas these days have to do more that just offer movies to get people to come. I expcted more of them as there were aspects that kind of annoyed me. The button to lay down the chair had light and the table with the high drink holder also felt like an unneeded distraction. So these comfy chairs were not really that much of an added value even though I did enjoy the laying down position.

Michael Jackson

As a 90s kid, I fully experienced the Michael Jackon era and I was one of the many fans around the world. I still remember the first time I came in contact with Michael Jackson which was on a trip to Disneyland where captain EO played as one of the attractions. My uncle and aunt were talking about Michael Jackson who I never heard of and how he got all these operations. Watching that movie instantly captured me and mostly made me intrigued. Since there wasn't much else at that time, I also became a fan getting the cassete tapes and such following from that point on his career.

Michael (7.0/10)

When it comes down to this movie, it's pretty straightforward. Purely as a movie, I would say it was rather weak just very shallowly portraying the life of Michael Jackson from his childhood where he got beat up by his dad to the moment where he was at his prime before things started to go downward. The movie kind of acts as a 'best off' album where you go from one song to the other. Inbetween, it showed some aspects of his life in that he likes animals, peter pan, some of the ideas he had, along with the Pepsi Incident where his hair caught on fire which is portrayed as some kind of almost death experience. This along with the transition from the Jackson 5 to his solo Career.

It was an enjoyable ride and it's really impressive how Jafar pulled off the main role in this movie in every possible way. However, that is pretty much all it was and the movie itself never captured me. I even went out at some point as I needed to use the toilet but never at any point I felt like 'I will be missing the movie'

This said, I did get a renewed interest mainly in the music of the Jackson 5 who have some songs that I actually really like but kind of slept on for a long time. I've also watching some Michael Jackson content on youtube since watching the movie as at least it did that.

Conclusion
I enjoyed this one for what it was even though as a movie it was rather weak. I am looking forward the the 2nd part as it kind of stopped in the middle of his career. At the same time , I expect nothing else from the 2nd movie kind of giving a glorified version of his life mainly as a showcase of the music. so as a fan who enjoyed the ride, I'm rating it a 7.0/10.
