This blog is a personal journal of all the movies, Tv-Shows, & Games I consume during a year which enhances my overall experience. The ratings that I give are fully based on my personal preference and enjoyment at the time of watching and I'm writing spoiler-free reviews. 2025 Movies Marathon

I have grown a bit of a tradition in January to watch all the 'Youtuber Top 10 Films Of The Year' videos to catch up with everything that was potentially good in the previous year. I'm close now to having fully caught up with the movies that I watched and I plan to move forward only watching older highly rated movies going forward until the end of 2026.

I pretty much knew exactly what to expect going into this movie and I saw it at a moment were I was up for something like this. Basically a young women becomes a housemaid for a wealthy family which quickly turns creepy as clearly something strange is going on where anyone with half a brain would run away from instantly. The movie is a journey of trying to figure out what's the deal without having any high expectations aside from getting some entertainment which it provides. The movie is based on a popular book and got quite favorable ratings I would say mainly aimed toward female viewers.

Sidney Sweeney

This is one of those names of an acress that I have seen popping up left and right but I never had any clue who she was and why she apparently is quite popular. It shows that she is 28 and already starred in many movies and tv shows of which some I watched but I never really noticed her. Euphoria seems to be one of the series she is know for and most of all because she does a lot of nude and sex scenes. The Housemaid is one of those examples. She certainly is hot and was perfectly suited for this role.

The Housemaid (7.0/10)

The plot of the movie is pretty generic, and it was quite obvious from the start that this was one of those 'reverse poker tell' movies where Strong means weak and weakness means strong. So it never really came as a surprise what was supposed to be a "twist". This said, how exactly is played out is something that I didn't really predict so it remained interesting to keep watching and to see how that played out. At the same time, the core story in how it unfolded I found quite unrealistic and I kept asking myself 'why exactly, this doesn't make that much sense...'

I can see though why Women would love this movie as Brandon Sklenar played the perfect hot guy who is rich, dominant, kind and has and impressive physique which kind of made me feel inferior. That combined with a young vulnerable girl and some drama & horror aspects made it complete. I more saw it as a 'good bad movie' which just provided some entertainment but in the end fell a bit short because it's full of logical flaws that make little sense when you think about it while the movie from start to finish is full of clichés.

That said, I did enjoy it for what it was, a purposely trashy good movie with high production value and good acting performances that is just a fun thriller. It did stick to me enough to give it quite a high 7.0/10.
